I know we said that we would have a week of Stacy Julian but we have so many wonderful things to share with your regarding this collaboration that we will be sharing MORE Design Team projects next week, too.  And, of course, we always have bits and pieces of all of our wonderful collections on the blog throughout the week.

Before I share with you another post from Stacy Julian, I wanted to announce our winner from the myStamp BOX blog swap from last week….

The random winner is…..KS Derby! I sent you an email so make sure you get back to me ASAP so we can get your goodies to you.

Remember to leave a comment here if you want to win some Stacy Julian Core Impressions Cardstock!

Without further ado, we share with you some more colorful inspiration from Stacy Julian….

“We are all born with a basic, sensual instinct for strong color.”

Susan Sargent

I sincerely believe this.

In fact, it’s proven that as children we an insatiable desire for color. As we grow we are taught to be conservative, to use color that will not offend or look to faddish or childish—we are taught that it’s smart to tone it down and play it safe.

Phooey.

I’m with Greta Smedal (a Norwegian color theorist) who insists that …

“Colour should involve and engage people if it is to increase the quality of life.”

As scrapbookers we are engaged in a creative process with the goal of improving the quality of our memories. We are essentially saying, “I care enough about this person, or this place or this moment in time that I want to call it out, make it last—honor it with time and reflection.”

This is not to say that every page that I create features my Happy Colors in their most vivid form. Earlier this week, I took my eldest son Clark out for a senior photo shoot. I can still use my Happy Colors on a more mature layout—all I have to do is use them with a neutral background and apply distressing ink, to lend a masculine feel. Rather than build my page around these colors, I use them as descriptive accents that direct your eye to Clark.

I’m telling you, color is the ticket to eye-catching design.

And the only rule you need to know is use what makes you happy!

Amazed at the masculine look that was created with all of the elements on the layout, especially making those word strips a little grundgy

I love color! Especially purple- almost any shade, lavender, violet, lilac I love them all and they make me happy. So I surround myself with it whenever I can.

Ellen – I’m so excited about winning the Scrapbox goodies. Unfortunately, I’m not finding an email from you and I couldn’t find a way to contact you directly. I would love to get back in touch with you but I don’t know how to do that except through the comment section.
