Layouts with Designer Melissa Oliveira

Designing with Melissa Oliveira today! Here is a little bit about this cute layout from Melissa:
The graphic design of the Pink Paislee Core Impressions made a great home for a grid style layout. AND chevrons are all the rage these days! Keeping the layout clean and simple with just a bit of sanding and embossing allows the little details like the punched butterflies, sanded edges and machine stitched border shine through.
And a close up…Core’dinations is just so great. Sand some, emboss some, use your Fiskars Paper Crimper like Melissa did here with the yellow strip …so many textures so little time!
Tuesday Tip with Debbie Standard

Happy Tuesday!
Make sure you check out the wonderful tip from Designer Lydia Jackson that was on the blog yesterday on how to use up those Core scraps for a really cute card.
Today we have Design Team Member Debbie Standard sharing with us her Tuesday Tip usint Tim Holtz Collection.
First off I scored a frame around where I was going to focus my page – actually double scored it – two sets of lines. As you score use your Sand it Gadget to sand over the scoring ridge while it’s still on the score ridge – much easier and cleaner than trying to sand it after you are done scoring. Then I sanded down outside my scoring to really accent a frame look. To create the red portion of the page I used a circle cutter I think was made by CK (OLD tool of mine) and sanded over it again and again moving it around behind my page – I really like how it came out. We call this technique outlining. Then I used a strip of The Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions line with the stars. I used some of the Tim Holtz Kraft and embossing it and cut out sections, also just tore a few pieces. Added some of the Jenni Bowlin black/kraft piece and cut out circles of it. Oh and then I sanded and cut out my title from the letters on a sheet from the Jenni Bowlin line- ran then through the Xyron machine and put them on some black cardstock which I cut around the letters so when I put them on my page they popped a little more.
Earth Day How To

We normally do our Tutorials on Tuesday BUT in honor of Earth Day we have a really great project from Designer Lydia Jackson using her Core. For this project Lydia used the BRAND NEW Graphic 45 lights collection. The colors of this line are beautiful.
Last week Lydia posted this layout where she printed directly on her cardstock. Once she printed it, she realized that it was too small so it went into the scrap pile.
Hmmm..what to do …what to do? Well, her to crafty little guys figured it out! Punch it, emboss it and then sand it for the perfect card!

Yes, you heard me right….
A layout with the David Tutera Celebrate Cardmaking System! Trine always does beautiful work and this layout is no exception. She mixed and matched some Jenni Bowlin Everyday Core Impressions with bits and pieces of the Steps 2 Lace Doily Assortment and Die Cut Label Assortments and Steps 3.
Isn’t it gorgeous? And the little banner from the Flower and Heart Seals and the Wedding Shapes. This line is so versatile and makes even layouts easy and beautiful!
Someone pointed out about the little envelope…I don’t know how we missed this the first time around. That is one of our Step 3 Bookmarks! Trine just folded it to make it look like a cute little envie!
And just to keep you updated…the new Design Team members have been notified via email. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all of the amazing applications.

Any old but goodie!
Designer Melissa Oliveria created this layout for us today. Banners never get old, do they?
The cupcake banner was created by embossing and sanding several 1″ strips of Core Essentials cardstock, then trimming a “v” shape at one end of each strip. A punched, sanded Whitewash border was added to each flag before adhering to the layout using foam dots. The base is Pink Paislee Core Impressions…just a little sanding goes a long way!
And I just heard that the NEW Design Team is 99.99% finalized. So stay tuned for the announcement!!!!!!!!!!!

Designer April Derrick has an awesome tutorial for us on this fine Tuesday featuring TONS of Tim Holtz Shattered cardstock. it is so versatile and this entire layout is cardstock!
First up, take your Crafter’s Workshop stencil and trace the template:
Next, using your craft knife, cut along the pencil lines:
You will already begin to see the gorgeous sunburst shape!
Now it is time to sew. Stitching on layotus never gets old! Layer the No. 7 Shattered cardstock on the No. 15 and you have a really great contrasting look.
And now for the final layout. April added some embellishments and a Step Two layer from David Tutera Celebrate cardmaking system. LOVE that postage stamp layer…it looks GREAT on layouts, too!
