Black MagicCore EssentialsCore Basics - 110lb White,  Bust Buddy , Sand It Gadget

David Tutera: White Smooth Cards & Envelopes – Size A2; DT-GX-7500-05

Darice Embossing “masks”, Die – Lifestyle Crafts, Embossing Folder – Tim Holtz

Patterened Paper – Pebbles Inc, Letter Roller Stamp – Pebbles Inc, Buttons – Michael’s

Stickles – Tim Holtz

I used Darice’s embossing folder “mask” to create this special cut out instead of using one of your sandwich plates, you can select areas that you don’t emboss.

July_Card_HowTo_SuzannaLee

To the left is the sandwich (minus the paper) and to your right is the resulting effect. I chose to “fill” the hole with another piece of embossed BlackMagic that I cut using the embossing mask to trace the oval. The result is less raised as you put embossed cardstock on flat cardstock (as opposed to two layers of embossed paper).

There is a lot of depth to this card with the fireworks really coming at you! I only adhered the center of the die cut firework sprays thus enabling me to use my finger nail to curl out the “arms”. A little Stickles adds to festivities!

Today we have designer Vivian Keh working her Tim Holtz magic!

Hello Core fans! Vivian Keh here to share with you a new adventure for me in papercrafting. I’ve never done a December Daily before, mostly because what I’ve seen online has very much revolved around kids’ experiences of this very special month, and our “kids” are only of the furry type. But my friend, Gwen, encouraged me to do one. So here I am today to share a bit of my project with you and hopefully inspire your Core crafting! Mine is going to be a gift for my man, and it’s going to be a collection of everyday bits in the cherished life we share, featuring details that others might perceive as mundane, but which are quite precious to us.

Since it’s a gift for hubbie, I decided to keep the palette masculine, using primarily Core’dinations cardstock from our Tim Holtz “Shattered” and “Seasonal Impressions” Collections. For this effect, I embossed pieces of various sizes with a number of Sizzix embossing folders, and also used Core pieces that were already embossed straight out of the package. After sanding and distressing the pieces, they were stitched into a patchwork.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_1This is a detail of the front patchwork, which was stitched onto a piece of printer paper so as not to add bulk, and then mod-podged as one piece onto chipboard.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_2 And the back. On occasion, I will reach for the shimmery stuff, and this Christmas I have been doing quite a lot of it. But initially, I wasn’t inclined to glitz up this project. My crafting buddy, Gwen, threw some Core’dinations Glitter Silk bells on top. Lo and behold, it totally worked and infused this project with holiday cheer!

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_EI adhered several gold fibers to carry the gold throughout the composition, and added a bit of cream to contrast the more deeply hued palette.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_BThe completed front…

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_AAnd the back…

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_CIf you are interested, I have a few pages to share today as well! The inside cover has my little dedication.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_InsideCoverCore’dinations’ Kraft Core Seasonal Impressions have a lovely variety of typography already embossed into the cardstock. I sanded to reveal the beautiful patterns, added a bit of distress ink on the edges, and a few embellishments.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec1December 1st was all about getting the house ready for my in-laws who are all visiting on Christmas Day. Folks, the house isn’t furnished yet! So we have been busy “swatching,” painting, IKEA-ing, and sneaking meals in between. This page features Core’dinations Jenni Bowlin Red and Black Collection, which in my opinion is perfect for holiday crafting!

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec3

This is my page for December 3rd. A new habit the two of us have picked up is doing the crossword mornings when hubbie doesn’t have to rush off. Each of us have different strengths, which makes collaborating on the more difficult puzzles so much fun. Many of these crossword squares were cut from scraps of pieces I had used for the covers.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec3JournalingThe journaling is on a canvas texture Core tag that is pinned and removable.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec4Usually we walk the pooches in the morning together, unless my guy has an early morning meeting. December 4th was such a day, so I took a longer route, allowed the dogs to linger and sniff some more, picked up some lovely acorns that are all falling from the trees right now. We’ve got grey squirrels here, and black ones, too. The squirrelys go nuts for the nuts and the dogs go nuts over the squirrels lol! I die-cut these using my Silhouette Cameo and File #11205 from Hero Arts, placing patches of textured Core and patterned paper to fill in the negative space.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec4JournalingI hope you enjoyed my December Daily share today! I will be posting more of it as December barrels ahead on my blog!

Happy Holidays!

-Vivian

More Authentique Cards with Jennifer Edwardson

It is no surprise here that we love our Authentique papers! Today Jennifer Edwardson has whipped up some amazing cards for your inspiration. See what you can do with some David Tutera Celebrate Cardmaking system pieces and some gorgeous patterned paper? You can whip up TONS of cards is a short amount of time because all of the cardbases are premade, scored and folded for you.  So make sure you check out Step 1 HERE.

I love giving sets of gift cards for birthdays, thank you and hostess gifts so when I saw the cellection of Authentique product I got to work with I knew it would be perfect for this !!

The colors in ‘Be(you)tiful’ are gorgeous and they work so well with the Core’dinations cardstock.  I started all my cards using David Tutera Celebrate card bases.  I chose the pearl cardstock cards – they have become my new fave – love the shimmer !! The colors of these cards worked so well with the colors in the patterned paper ……

I chose a few complimentary pieces of cardstock and got to work.  On some cards I used embossing folders on the card base and others I embossed the cardstock and sanded and layered them mixed with the Authentique papers and die cuts …… I even had twine and sentiments in my studio to match !!

I was thrilled with being able to get a gorgeous set of (8) A2 sized cards using (1) 12 x 12 die cut sheet and a few pieces of patterned paper from a 6 x 6″ pad.  Add in the card bases and a few pieces of Core’dinations  cardstock and ta-da!
