Creating Layouts with School Colors

There are a lot of High School graduations going on right now and  Kate Nolan Denham has a great layout to share with us today using school colors. With such a variety of different colors and kinds of cardstock to choose from, Core’dinations Cardstock can be your go to paper for any occasion!
On this layout, Kate does a great job working around that issue we always find when using Core and embossing folders….”how do I only use a 5×7″ folder on a 12″ layout?” She balances it perfectly with a 5×7″ photo and then, of course, sands!

Kate here today with a graduation layout that sports school colors from Core’dinations Vintage Collection.  It is one of my favorite collections!
I did a lot of sanding with my Sand It Gadget.  I wanted the color core to really pop on the edges of the mats  where I embossed and scored.  It allowed me to add dimension without having to add more layers.
You can see how awesome the Core’dinations Color Core looks in this up close photo!

#1 Teacher Gift Bag

I don’t know about you but we are gearing up for the end of school here. With only less then two weeks left, I need to get busy on some gifts for my kid’s teachers and we hope you have been enjoying the ideas so far this week! You can easily incorporate these with layouts, cards or any paper crafting project.

I love a good gift bag and Debbie Standard as one for us today but that’s not the focal point. She created her own award ribbon using some Spellbinders Scalloped Circle dies! Just die cut them with an embossing machine and then cut them into pieces. Sand and then adhere them in a circular pattern, add some banner strips and you are done!

Thank you teacher Debbie1

Layouts with Debbie Standard

Today we have some gorgeous layouts from Debbie Standard!

We had a beautiful day for my mother’s 87th birthday and afterwards while the girls were still dressed up we went around the corner from my house and had them pose in this beautiful field of blue bonnets (Texas is known for their  state flower)! My granddaughter was patient with me up to a point and then she spontaneously burst into some random poses – these were  my favorite!

1.  Sand the Jillibean Soup Impressions.
2.  Use blue from the Tim Holtz & Ranger  Distress collection and emboss it with a Spellbinder’s embossing folder.  It is of course too wide to run through the embossing machine so I cut my paper in two and embossed each sheet and then attached them together.
3. I matted my photos with white and then added pink behind my photo strip.  I punched the edges with a Martha Stewart punch and then sanded them before adhering.
4.   I cut my flower and my title from my Silhouette ran the title through my Xyron machine and attached it.  Totally loved how these colors came out and reflected everything in my photos.
5.  I printed my journaling on 110 lb Smooth White cardstock and then cut it and ran it through my Xyron machine.

We celebrated my mother’s 87th birthday recently and had her kids, some of her grand kids and great grand kids there. Even with just a partial group there were 16!.  She was thrilled!  When the restaurant realized who we were singing too they all joined in.  She was so cute, I had to document it!

1. Sand the BasicGrey Core Impressions and adhere together with Washi tape.
2. Then I cut and matted my photos on a sheet of white and then backed it with a bright blue and attached it.
3. Next, I cut my title and my balloons from a Silhouette die, ran them through my Xyron 250, sanded them lightly and adhered them to my page.

First up we have Mary Pat Siehl with a layout using the Seasons Autumn layout. She really embraces the Autumn color palette with the rusts and reds and I love that touch of navy blue!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I think is is the beautiful rich colors that are all around!  Core and Authentique are such a great pairing becuse of the beautful textures and colors that both companies have.  For today I made a fall layout with the new collection from Authentique and I paired it up with some Core Amour and Core Impressions Jillibean Soup.  The colors really mixed well and the texture it provided just made the layout!

What else could you possible need?  Tracy Gruber is working colors, patterns and so much more today!

First up a very fun and festive card…but keep scrolling down…there’s a great layout, too!

I love to find new techniques to use with my Core!  For this card, I used a Studio Calico mask and put it behind my piece of Core card stock.  I then sanded with the Sand It Gadget until the design started to show.  Pretty cool, huh?  Then, I cut some stars and then added the  white shape with the Paper Smooches sentiment. Next up some May Arts ribbon and Imaginisce Glam Rocks finish off this card perfeclty!

Supplies:
-Core’dinations Neutral and Dark paper pads
-May Arts Ribbon
-Imaginisce Glam Rocks and I-Rock
-Paper Smooches Word Salad
-Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
-Spellbinder’s Label 4 die
-Memory Box Cosmic Star Set
-Studio Calico Mask

The best part about scrapping with Core’dinations card stock is the ability to use different techniques to create unique layouts.  On the dark pink base, I simply used the Sand It Gadget to sand three different areas for a distress look.  It adds a different element to your layout that is really easy to do!  I then used a piece of light pink Spotted Tillie Dot and sanded it to make the polka dots “pop.”  The last technique I used was crumpling up a piece of White Wash card stock, flattening it out, and then sanding it.  This allows the Sand It Gadget to hit the creased spots and the background color to show through.

Next up we have Designer Kim Moreno with a  ffew gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous layouts!

Kim Not So Ordinary

To create the hearts in the background of my layout I placed a chipboard heart behind my cardstock and slightly sanded over the top making sure to get the edges well so the heart would show clearly (the outlining technique).
I the layered the pre-embossed Spotted purple cardstock and the cuttlebug embossed grey paper to create my layout. I added white spotted cardstock and instead of inking the raised dots I simply rubbed them along the black cardstock and it picked up the “leftover” dust and colored the white spotted cardstock nicely.
I then added my stickers and embellishments to complete my layout!

And a close up:

Using my scorpal I embossed the lines around the edge of my layout to frame the whole layout I then sanded the lines and the edge of my paper rather roughly tearing some of the edges to reveal the color core of the cardstock. I backed my photo in patterened paper and vintage cardstock tearing along the bottom to reveal the core. I also traced on the back of the vintage yellow cardstock and tore the pieces of the sunshine out and sanded the edges slightly to create the sunshine piece.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Core’dinations (Autumn & Lemonade- Vintage Collection), (Nassau Blue, Snowflake, & Sutter Butter- Core Essentials collection)
Patterned paper/ sticker/ die cuts: Imaginisce
Adhesive: Zapdots by Helmar
Tool: ScorPal
