Cards ..Cards…and more cards!

First up we have a gingerbread card from Designer Vivina Keh. Keep reading because this isn’t the gingerbread you were thinking of ;)

Vivian Keh here today to share with you a card which uses a technique I came up with awhile back which I call the “Gingerbread” technique.  Perhaps a Hard Core video tutorial is in store for you sharing this really easy technique!  In conjunction with Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock that has been sanded, the patterns really pop off your papercrafted projects!

Core Impressions…to sand or not to sand…

Happy Monday everyone!

Today we have two layouts from Designer Suzanna Lee using our Core Impressions.  The great thing about these lines is that you can sand them or not sand them. So we thought we would give you to examples  of each. The first one uses the BasicGrey Core Impression Whimsy collection not sanded.

The fun thing about Core is you can sand some …and not sand others ..all in the same  layout like Suzanna did here. She sanded the tone on tone stars and scallop shape in red to make them pop off of each other and then left her Core Impressions as is. Don’t forget to get out your Sand it Gadget when you decide to sand ;) It’s repositional sand paper pieces make it so easy to use!

Patterned paper-less (or primarily cardstock) layouts are so easy to create with Core’dinations! Especially when you throw some Core Impressions in the mix – the printed design and embossed images really add some fine detail to the layout. Just because the cardstock is embossed, it doesn’t mean you have to sand it. I like the subtle texture of the unsanded Core.

The Sanded Layout:
Next up we have a layout from Suzanna where did quite a bit of sanding on the BasicGrey Core Impressions.  We LOVE the look of BOTH and are happy we can give you that creative option!

Core’dinations looks great cut in your Silhouette or any die cutting machine!

Love the bits of sanding….

Just because you have the ability to sand it, tear it and emboss it, doesn’t mean you have to. Sometimes, less is more. That’s the highlight of this layout. Pure, simple unadulterated Core! LOL!! Okay, I did sand the Core Impressions, but of the 5 types of Core I used, it’s the only one I “did” something to. One teeny tiny strip of patterned paper, that’s all! And a few embellishments.

Supply List:

Core Essentials: Darks

First a card from Designer Gail Linder:

My just-turned-two year old son is obsessed with trucks at the moment so I had to create a truck card for his birthday!

Using my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, I cut out the truck in three core colors so I could mix and match it when I put it together on the card! I think I must say this all the time, but it is truly awesome how just a little sand can add so much dimension and definition to simple shapes like these!

And of course, what good is a dump truck without a pile of dirt? Torn, embossed and sanded Chocolate Box cardstock was the perfect, rough dirt for this (I have to say) cute little dump truck!

My son’s eyes lit up when he saw it!

And a layout from Designer Kate Nolan-Denham

One of the things I love about Core’dinations Cardstock, besides the colored core, is that there are so many fantastic colors of cardstock.  Color can evoke a feeling in a layout, it can help support the theme of a layout or it can just compliment the photos.  It is awesome that Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock has so many colors that it makes it so easy to do of these things! When creating this “All Boy” layout, I wanted to use what I consider “all boy” colors.  Core’dinations Cardstock did not fail me!

To pop the ColorCore on the green background paper, orange arrows and brown titlework I simply distressed the cardstock with the Core’dinations Sandit Gadget and Dust Buddy.

I stamped some fun boy adjectives after adding a bit of Distress Paint to a Core’dinations Core’Tag. These sturdy, smooth tags are awesome for adding wet mediums. Stamping on the textured ColorCore Cardstock has such a great effect, too, as you can see on the “guareneed trouble” spot.

We’re all torn up over Core’dinations!

Aren’t you? But of course in a good way! Today we have some projects from Designer Vivian Keh. This first card is so cool! It takes paper tearing to an entirely new level. And Vivian mixes and matched all  kinds of Core…some Spotted, Core Essentials and Vintage.

Hello, friends!  Vivian Keh on the Core blog today with a happy card using cardstocks from a number of different Core’dinations collections.  I’ve been having so much fun simply tearing our lovely color core cardstock for fast texture in papercrafted projects!  I tore several strips of Core for the right side of my card and tucked a simple sleeve behind the torn pieces to house a cute die-cut tag which slides out. Just about all the elements were sanded because I am in love the distressed result and how beautifully sanding brings out Core edges and embossing.

And who is ready for a layout?

For my base, I sanded a sheet of this wonderful Coconut Cream Woodgrain cardstock that we carry – I love the organic patterns and the versatile creamy color. For the embellishment, I relied heavily on my beloved paper punches.  The photo was backed with a piece of Core that I dry embossed and then fashioned into an easy folder.  I added a cute tab that I had die cut and embellished with a heart-shaped button. Simple journaling in the bottom left corner, and more detailed journaling hidden inside the folder.
Thanks to my punches, this layout came together quickly, which was very exciting for this typically slowpoke scrapper.

Designer Mary Pat Siehl is working her Core magic today!

Hope you are ready for a GREAT weekend! Today we have some great layouts from Designer Mary Pat Siehl.  Here is a littl bit about these projects from Mary herself.

I love trying new techniques and Core Cardstock is just so perfect for everything. I love how it handles the different types of medium. For my project I first sanded the Spotted Cardstock. I then applied a light amount of paint. I then tore the cardstock to expose the Core. I then cut several embellishments using my Silhouette out of the Core and I lightly sanded them. ( I don’t know about you but I love making my own embellies!). Finally I added some of the new Smooth Core Tags. I am really addicted them right now!

And another layout working that Cosmo Cricket Core Impressions….

One of the things I love about Core Cardstock is that no matter what type of  Core cardstock you are using they all work together so nicely.  In this layout I used some of the Core Impressions mixed with some Core that I embossed myself.  I love how it looks all sanded.  The cardstock is so perfect for the base and main focus of your layout!
