Try dry embossing using a stencil, like the Chatterbox Doodle Genie.  Sand the embossed area for the core color to be revealed. Then add your picture and you’re done!

The little frame is a Spellbinders Nestabilities die in a dark brown and I sanded that. The flower is a Sizzix die and a Nestabilities. I accented the Vintage blue background with scored lines using a Scor-Pal and lots of sanding.

How She Did It: “The background paper was distressed using a Heidi Swapp edge distresser. Journaling lines were created using the “stylus from the back” technique before sanding to reveal the colored core. The green frame border was created by cutting out the center of the paper, then sandwiching the paper between the embossing folder. I used a SNAPPLE BOTTLE (!) to compress the embossing folder to create the impression.”

How She Did It: “I tore the navy blue Core Essentials, then used chipboard and sanded the rings. I tore the whitewash papers to make “bubbles”. I used my wishblade to cut the title from the Vintage paper.”
