Today we are introducing Tracy Gruber!

AND IT’S HER BIRTHDAY!

Hello! My name is Tracy and I have been crafting since I was a little girl. I started scrapbooking when I was in high school and card-making about 3 years ago. I am currently going to college for Graphic Design and work part-time at a local scrapbooking store. I have been published a couple of times and also have an Etsy shop where I sell handmade banners and cards. Paper-crafting is such an awesome hobby because I am able to preserve memories while expressing my creativity! When I’m not crafting, I enjoy spending time with my family, rollerblading playing tennis, and shopping. I am so excited to be a part of the Core’dinations design team and use the best card stock on the planet!

I love using bright colors on my layouts! I cut banners out of different colored Core’dinations cardstocks and sanded them for some added texture. I also used dies to cut out the hearts and flowers and sanded them as well. I thought the Core Tags would be a cool way to display all of my photos on the layout, I just had to trim the bottoms off of them a bit.

Today we are introducing Heather Kaesgen!

My name is Heather Kaesgen; I am a proud stay at home mom of 2 boys Parker (13) & Hayden (8). They keep me very busy with all of their activities. You can find us at a baseball field 6 nights a week from April – August. Thank God I love baseball! I have been married almost 15 years to the greatest husband and father I could have ever of wished for. I am very blessed to be able to stay at home and play in my craft room daily. I am always making something. Whether it is for a party, a card, for the house or scrapbooking, I always have a project in the works. My passion is scrapbooking; there is nothing more precious than to see your family on a beautifully decorated page. We LOVE to travel as a family. We spent 3 weeks in Europe last summer – can you imagine those pictures!? My favorite place in the world is Paris (and the Outer Banks and Disney and Out West, get it LOVE to travel). We are starting a lofty goal of visiting every Major League Ballpark, all 32 of them, in the next 5 years! Did I mention we LOVE baseball. I can’t wait to start that scrapbook!

And about Heather’s layout…she is passionate about traveling so that is what she created for you today! A layout about her travels:

I loved picking one thing that I totally love and doing an entire page on it! As it says I am obsessed with the Eiffel Tower. I have been to the top, spent hours up there and have many, many pictures of it. I used hues of brown with a hint of blue. Very French! My personality is a lot like my crafting, some days it is Classic, Timeless and Simple. Other days it is Colorful, Sassy and Crazy. Obviously you see what mood I was in, how could you not… it is PARIS. Every piece of paper used was Core’dinations. It is so versatile! I love to emboss and then sand. I can’t get enough of it! Enjoy and Au revoir.

First here is a little bit about Mary Pat:

My name is Mary Pat Siehl. I am an avid paper crafter, stamper, and card maker. I have been paper crafting for over 12 years. It truly is a passion of mine. I would descirbe my style as clean and simple, but this is not to say my style is boring. I love to layer my papers and add all types of embellishments. I love adding different textures to my layouts. I am married to a wonderful man who totally supports my addiction to paper crafting. I have 2 boys who keep me totally on the run and having fun. I am a high school teacher by day, and I am in my 24th year of teaching. I live in beautiful Springboro, Ohio. If I am not scrapping I am either hanging out with my 3 favorite guys or on the tennis courts.

I loved this idea of a bio layout. I rarely make pages about myself. I love using negative space so I used my Silhouette and cut out the thought bubbles. I then backed them with sanded core’dinations cardstock. I then made a border by scoring the outer edges and lightly sanded it. I then lightly sanded the base cardstock to give it a slightly distressed feel. Next, I cut out my title and once again lightly sanded it and then added my photo. I then added some of my favorite embellishments at the moment.

Today we have new Design Team Member…… Suzanna Lee!

What can I say? I’m just a woman who is obsessed with her husband, her 2 kids, her camera (a Nikon!), living life to the fullest and preserving our memories as we go! Michael and I have been happily married for 14 years. Together we are raising two amazing children—Nikolas, 10, and Mia,almost 7.

I am very diverse when it comes to styles and techniques. I can’t claim any one as a main stay in my projects. I range from clean and simple to layered and packed with little details. The paper and photographs speak to me and I do what feels right. New styles, techniques, products, etc. are some of the major things that offer me inspiration. I am always excited to try new things and new opportunities, in life and with paper crafting.

When I’m not hiding behind my camera or cutting and creating both mess and beauty, I’m a physical therapist. I love what I do and love that it helps fund my hobby and collection! Who needs purses and shoes when you can have paper and embellishments?!

And how much do you loooooove the color combo of this layout??? I just love learning all these random bits about Suzanna.

Now a little bit about Suzanna’s layout:

Every now and again, I try to do a page about myself. My kids love pouring through the albums and love seeing themselves but I know there will come a time when they will wish there was more of Mum and Dad. I know I love learning the little details of my parents’ lives. This layout served that purpose as well as sharing a little bit about myself with you. Random bits about Suzanna Lee. I literally wrote the first 5 thoughts that came to mind. I did say random! I also wanted to showcase how amazing core is! There is one piece of patterned paper on this page, the majority of the paper is Core of one type or another. All those different lines come together as a cohesive whole! Amazing!

Hello day THREE and say Hello to Ava!

Here is a little bit about Ava:

Hello, I am from the Great Lakes of Ontario Canada. Scrapbooking started out for me a few years ago, lots of classes from great instructors and here I am looking at mixed media as my new challenge for 2013. As for my scrapping style… well, that is ….TBA. I create using products that feel good to me. I am inspired by talented designers and experiment with new techniques, so spikes of different styles will be noted above the radar!

I tend to scrap in 3 styles : Eclectic/Freestyle, Romantic/Shabby Chic and Multimedia.

Here is a little bit about this layout from Ava: Costa: Ocean Waters calm my Soul

Have you tried this technique water misting yet? Let me share my layout with you that features water misting and hot glue application.

The lace border trim around the photo was created using the Martha Stewart punch, by misting the border punched trim with a water mister. Once the water has soaked in like 1 minute, fold like a fan the strip of paper and shape to the desired shape and let the border rest (dry) somewhat and like magic, you have a full textured element for your page. I misted my flower as well to get the curled look to the petals.

Now, you can see how much fun embossing Core essential papers are from this layout, which I made exclusively with Core’dinations cardstock. All my embellishments are made from Core’dinations cardstock as well. The vine, tags, border circle trim, medallions and flower….all CORE!

Now let’s check out the glossy water ripples on this layout. Fellow Core team designer Vivian Keh, is known as is an educator of this technique. I am one of her followers and thought I had better give this a try on this layout. You can get lots of technique videos from Vivian at her blog. Using the hot glue on this layout is fast and very effective for a water scene to get the ripple effect. Be sure to get some practice before you make an attempt on a final art project because your paper may ripple a bit from the hot glue. So, this is a layout about me; water’s edge has a magical calming effect on my inner self.

Today we have another returning Design Team Member…Shaunte Wadley!

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Shaunte over the past few years and she has an eye for design that always blows me away. She adds just the smallest details and I think, “Man! Why didn’t I think of that?!” Here is a little bit about Shaunte:

I guess if I were to describe myself as a crafter- I would say I like little details- tags, tabs, pearls, tiny flowers, etc. I also love to add texture and dimension to my projects. I love to sand, machine stich, die cut and I buy pop-dots in bulk.

I naturally gravitate towards happy colors, but I depend on my photos to determine my color palette.

My favorite Core products are Glittersilk and Vintage.

Vintage looks (and feels) to me like a good pair of comfortable broken-in jeans, which is what you will find me wearing almost daily. I like to embellish things with Glittersilk. Anything sparkly and glittery will always appeal to me!

Journaling reads:

40 hit me this year like a truckload of bricks. You tend to reflect on life at each decade- what worked, what didn’t. Here is what I know. Sure I have made mistakes, but I have also been pretty stinking lucky.

I married well. Sam and I still love each other- and humor has been the glue to hold this family together. We like to laugh a lot- at ourselves, at each other, and at life.

We have five great kids! They are hitting the teen years, and honestly? I really like these guys! Thanks to Sam’s job, we have had many adventures traveling together as a family. I turned my hobby into a job. Work from home in my pajamas? Yes, please.

Life is good. I am grateful.

Here is the detail of how Shaunte cut the title with her Cameo. Cutting glitter cardstock, like our Glitter Silk, upside down and in reverse helps save your blade and make a nice, clean cut so your glitter won’t shed.

My name is Debbie Standard and I live north of San Antonio, Texas. I have been scrapping for about 15 years now. I have been a Critical Care Nurse for 18 years. I work part time in a Level one Trauma Center in San Antonio. I am also a mother to four, three daughters and a son. Between my husband and myself we have a total of six children, eleven grandchildren and one great-greatchild (by his oldest granddaughter), two cats. I love scrapping – it’s my therapy. I have been published in several magazines and can’t say I have ever gotten over the thrill of seeing my work posted in magazines, blogs and facebook. I have met some wonderful people through design teams and boards. I am so excited to be a part of Core’dinations Design Team. I have been part of this team since 2009 and have loved every minute. GORGEOUS Mother’s Day Cardstock Bouquet

Design Team Member Jennifer Edwardson created this gorgeous handmade flower basket for her mother for Mother’s Day.

Here is a little bit about this project from Jennifer:

Mom’s always love to get a handmade gift for Mother’s Day so why not a bouquet of ‘flowers’ ….. Core’dinations Color Core Cardstock flowers to be exact

First, I adhered brown Shattered Cardstock to the outside of my ‘flower box’ and then added the ribbon around the outside top edge of the box and added a bow. I stamped my sentiment on a white Core Tag and then ran it through my die cutting maching using a flourish embossing folder and then used a blue Core Bookmark and did the same thing but with a different pattern. To make them work well together I cut the bottom off of the blue one and rounded the corners. I added a couple of punched leaves just under a twine tied button before adhereing this to the center of my bow .

Using some of my fave Core cardstock textures and colors I set to work punching all shapes and sizes of flowers before running them through my die cut machine with several different embossing folders !! I sanded and adhered them all together keeping some flat and adding 3D foam to several as well. I tied twine into some fun buttons and adhered them to the center of the flowers ….. I even got a few butterflies into the mix and added some adhesive backed pearls too.

I adhered each flower to a thin wooden kabob stick. Once my ‘bouquet’ was complete, I added a styrofoam ball to the bottom inside and covered it with white crinkle cut paper. Then I was able to gently push my flower ’stems’ into the styrofoam and have them stand where I wanted them.

And another shot of all that embossing”

I love how this came together and now my mom can enjoy this pretty ‘bouquet’ all year long without ever having to think about watering it!

Creating with the Tim Holtz Kraft Core Shattered line is SO MUCH fun! This card was just perfect for using this line. Did you know that all the Kraft Core lines Core’dinate? Design Team Member Debbie Standard embossed the Core shattered and lightly sanded it so that it would show both the Shattered as well as the embossed image.

Debbie made this card using some of the Tim Holtz Shattered collection in the 6 X 6. This time she didn’t emboss it just left it as is. Then she layered it over Core Essentials Brights cardstock and stamped on the back of the white for the top of the card.

And a layout using some BasicGrey Core Impressions: According to Debbie, she loves creating layouts using some of the Core Impressions as the background . Sanded and dusted it creates such a great palette to use on your page.
