Supplies:

David Tutera: White Smooth Cards & Envelopes – Size A2; DT-GX-7500-05

Darice Embossing “masks”, Die – Lifestyle Crafts, Embossing Folder – Tim Holtz

Patterened Paper – Pebbles Inc, Letter Roller Stamp – Pebbles Inc, Buttons – Michael’s

Stickles – Tim Holtz

I used Darice’s embossing folder “mask” to create this special cut out instead of using one of your sandwich plates, you can select areas that you don’t emboss.

July_Card_HowTo_SuzannaLee

To the left is the sandwich (minus the paper) and to your right is the resulting effect. I chose to “fill” the hole with another piece of embossed BlackMagic that I cut using the embossing mask to trace the oval. The result is less raised as you put embossed cardstock on flat cardstock (as opposed to two layers of embossed paper).

June_Happy4thCard_Close2_SuzannaLee

There is a lot of depth to this card with the fireworks really coming at you! I only adhered the center of the die cut firework sprays thus enabling me to use my finger nail to curl out the “arms”. A little Stickles adds to festivities!

1.  Start by cutting hexagons with your hexagon die cut and your embossing machine.
2.  Take your hexagons and using about three different embossing folders emboss your hexagons.  Then you will sand them with your Sand It Gadget and dust them off with your Dust Buddy.

Today we have designer Vivian Keh working her Tim Holtz magic!

Hello Core fans! Vivian Keh here to share with you a new adventure for me in papercrafting. I’ve never done a December Daily before, mostly because what I’ve seen online has very much revolved around kids’ experiences of this very special month, and our “kids” are only of the furry type. But my friend, Gwen, encouraged me to do one. So here I am today to share a bit of my project with you and hopefully inspire your Core crafting! Mine is going to be a gift for my man, and it’s going to be a collection of everyday bits in the cherished life we share, featuring details that others might perceive as mundane, but which are quite precious to us.

Since it’s a gift for hubbie, I decided to keep the palette masculine, using primarily Core’dinations cardstock from our Tim Holtz “Shattered” and “Seasonal Impressions” Collections. For this effect, I embossed pieces of various sizes with a number of Sizzix embossing folders, and also used Core pieces that were already embossed straight out of the package. After sanding and distressing the pieces, they were stitched into a patchwork.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_1This is a detail of the front patchwork, which was stitched onto a piece of printer paper so as not to add bulk, and then mod-podged as one piece onto chipboard.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_2 And the back. On occasion, I will reach for the shimmery stuff, and this Christmas I have been doing quite a lot of it. But initially, I wasn’t inclined to glitz up this project. My crafting buddy, Gwen, threw some Core’dinations Glitter Silk bells on top. Lo and behold, it totally worked and infused this project with holiday cheer!

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_EI adhered several gold fibers to carry the gold throughout the composition, and added a bit of cream to contrast the more deeply hued palette.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_BThe completed front…

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_AAnd the back…

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_CIf you are interested, I have a few pages to share today as well! The inside cover has my little dedication.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_InsideCoverCore’dinations’ Kraft Core Seasonal Impressions have a lovely variety of typography already embossed into the cardstock. I sanded to reveal the beautiful patterns, added a bit of distress ink on the edges, and a few embellishments.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec1December 1st was all about getting the house ready for my in-laws who are all visiting on Christmas Day. Folks, the house isn’t furnished yet! So we have been busy “swatching,” painting, IKEA-ing, and sneaking meals in between. This page features Core’dinations Jenni Bowlin Red and Black Collection, which in my opinion is perfect for holiday crafting!

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec3

This is my page for December 3rd. A new habit the two of us have picked up is doing the crossword mornings when hubbie doesn’t have to rush off. Each of us have different strengths, which makes collaborating on the more difficult puzzles so much fun. Many of these crossword squares were cut from scraps of pieces I had used for the covers.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec3JournalingThe journaling is on a canvas texture Core tag that is pinned and removable.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec4Usually we walk the pooches in the morning together, unless my guy has an early morning meeting. December 4th was such a day, so I took a longer route, allowed the dogs to linger and sniff some more, picked up some lovely acorns that are all falling from the trees right now. We’ve got grey squirrels here, and black ones, too. The squirrelys go nuts for the nuts and the dogs go nuts over the squirrels lol! I die-cut these using my Silhouette Cameo and File #11205 from Hero Arts, placing patches of textured Core and patterned paper to fill in the negative space.

VivianKehCoreDecemberDaily_Dec4JournalingI hope you enjoyed my December Daily share today! I will be posting more of it as December barrels ahead on my blog!

Happy Holidays!

-Vivian

Today we have some THRILLING designs for you! {wink, wink}  First up is Tracy Gruber with a cool layout. Like Tracy, I am OBSESSED with the 12×12 Details Stickers. Tracy uses them to move your eye around  the page in addition to the pieces of patterned paper and Black Magic and Vintage Core’dinations.

And next up Clare Busewell with a deliciously, thrilling card! This pumpkin is too cute to spook don’t you think?

Draw simple pumpkin shape, trace onto card base (excluding stem) and cut out. Trace pumpkin sections onto Superstition, Antidote and Mystic 12×12 papers from Thrilling Collection by Authentique. Emboss Vintage Collection cardstock, sand with Sand-It Gadget, wipe with Dust Buddy and trace pumpkin section onto it. Cut out sections from patterned papers and cardstock, ink edges with Distress inks and paper-piece onto card base. Trace stem onto Tim Holtz and Ranger Distress Collection, sand edges and ink with Distress ink. Attach stem to top. Add sticker tag from “details” stickers from Thrilling Collection to piece of cardstock, cut out, ink edges and adhere to card with silicone glue. Add bow, to finish.

And next up, a quick tutorial on how I created a fun candle and card set using the new Smooth Bookmarks(Bright), Black Magic, David Tutera Cardmaking cardbase and a Darice embossing folder. This witch feet embossing folder is AWESOME!  OH..and some Thrilling papers, of course!  Honestly, Whamy from the Black Magic Collection is the BEST cardstock  to have for Halloween. The Core is purple!!! Oh and how much fun are the Queen & Co Rox rhinestones on her boots?

Cut the little nub off:

Then cut it in half. The to trick in making it look like it goes around the front is  cutting it in half and sticking each end under the journal spot on the front.  Don’t forget to emboss! Even though they are smooth you can still emboss them.

006

And the back…you may be wondering why it doesn’t go all the way around but I wanted it that way since I punched the papers and used pints where they meet.  And I am not sure if you can tell but one side of the tag is embossed and the other is debossed . The twine is May Arts, of course!

Speaking of Fancy Pants Core Impressions….Jill Lebbin used hers for this cute mini album page:

Hi! I’m Jill from Every Day is an Occasion here to share a project I made using the Xyron mega runner and Core’dinations Fancy Pants Core Impressions and pink Vintage cardstock. I also used some Authentique patterned paper. My daughter turned two recently and so we got her two year old pictures taken. I just adored this one and had to create a mini album page layout.

Fancy Pants Details

As mentioned before, I used the Xyron Mega tape runner. Even though it is called a “mega” tape runner it isn’t so mega that it is obtrusive to your crafting. Actually, I love the size of the mega tape runner. I also love the refill system, so simple and quick! Thank you Xyron!!!

In this layout I used the Fancy Pants Core impression paper for the photo frame, and then I sanded it. The pick accents are the Core’dinations Vintage Collection. I cut out the accents using my Silhouette Cameo.

Materials:

Fancy Pants Core Impressions, Vintage Core’dinations, Authentique Patterned paper, Vintage sequins from stash (the were my great grandmother’s), flower, Xyron mega tape runner, Sand it Gadget and Dust Buddy.

And next up Designer Ava Gavloski with an amazing project for us today, too!

Party Favors have truly taken center stage at parties and has given the cake a nudge. So, today, I would like the two too share the spot light together.
Lets start with quality Xyron Adhesive and the best cardstock on the market…Coredinations!

You need some GREAT adhesive for this. Have you ever made a project like this and then the next day it’s all popped apart?  Not with Xyron. This beauty is still going strong!

Now, look at how lovely the Couture Creations Embossing folder showcases the Core’dinations inner colored cardstock.

Adding some Graphic 45 papers to the top of the cake was a delight. To complete the bridal presentation I made a card and decorated a candle holder to match the festive occasion.

And a layout from Designer Kim Moreno!

kim Birthday Surprise (1) kim Birthday Surprise (2)

Here’s how Kim created this layout:

I used my ScorPal again to create the border around the edge of my layout and then sanded it slightly. I then sanded and cut out the ledger cardstock and adhered it to the center of the black cardstock. I matted my photo with the red cardstock and tore it along the bottom to reveal the colored core of the red cardstock. I cut out the clocks and sanded each of them to reveal the kraft core.  Then layered my photos and embellishments to finish my layout.

Supplies:

Cardstock: Core Essentials (Nightfll, Scarlet), Core Impressions (Jenni Bowlin, Graphic 45)
Stickers: Jillibean Soup (yellow “joy”)

Let’s take it off the page, everyone!

Leica is here today with a fun mini album using loads of Authentique Papers and Vintage Core’dinations. Love all the little accents Leica adds like the doodling along the edges.

Check out all these gorgeous layers and the embossing and sanding on that Vintage Core!

And some inside pages. Tim Holtz’s Sizzix Embossing folders are just the perfect accent. See  how it embosses the journal lines for you? Add a little ink like Leica did here and voila! Looks great with the colored ink on the white Core Essentials Cardstock.
