Well, it is Tuesday that means we always try and give you a fun tip or technique and today Design Team member Melissa Oliveira is sharing two gorgeous layouts with us with some great ideas.  Melissa got to use the awesome Indie Bloom collection and isn’t cool how she made it festive for us? BasicGrey is SO versatile.

Melissa sanded the background of the BasicGrey Core Impressions to highlight the photo. She made the banner by cutting triangles from the back side of the BasicGrey core impressions, then mounting ot to the brown side (the right side) and trimming a scalloped border using Fiskars deco scissors.

Next up…a TREE from TORN paper!!! SO  COOL!

Melissa cut the small presents at the bottom of the LO  from the front packaging sheet of the Indie Bloom collection.  The prints are smaller on the cover art so they worked well for the look Melissa was going for (the full size prints would have been too big). The tree was made by tearing strips of the BG core impressions, then arranging with repositionable adhesive (from the Glue Glider Pro) and machine stitching in place.

Today we are being inspired by Design Team Member Debbie Standard.

Let me tell you, when our team got a hold of this BasicGrey paper, they didn’t hold back! Debbie has THREE layouts for us today!

For this first layout, Debbie used the Ornate collection and mixed it with some Tillie Spotted cardstock  (red).  She paired it with some Little Black Dress goodies from BasicGrey. Perfect for some Holiday layouts, don’t you think?

And this Cherry Cordial in the Sarsaparilla from the Ornate collection is one of my FAVES! Love how Debbie used it on her layout here today.Don’t be afraid to pair it with another graphic print like Debbie did here with the BasicGrey Herringbone patterned paper.

And back to the Ornate Collection. It’s so elegant and perfect for any layout!

Summer Lovin’ Tuesday Tip

We are Summer Lovin’ here at Core.

Soaking up these last few weeks of summer is always such a great time of year.

Design Team Member Leica Forrest created this layout to celebrate summer for us and her tip is how to make this fun grass.

It’s super easy! Cut a strip of paper, snip pieces with your scissor but make sure you don’t go all the way to the bottom

of the paper. When you are done, curl with a pencil or a paintbrush if you want it a tighter curl.

VOILA! You have grass. It mimics the photo perfectly.

Leica used a great mix of Core’dinations on this layout: Basic Grey Core Impressions, Core Essentials, Vintage and Stacy Julian Core Impressions.

This week we have a fun week in store for you….we are introducing our NEW 2011 Design Team.  For this special week, each Design Team member created a layout all about themselves.  We will be updating galleries daily with new projects from the team so make sure you check their galleries often!

First up is Melissa Oliveira.  Here is a little bit about Melissa in her own words:

I’m a native Cape Cod’er married to my best friend Bob. I am a mostly stay-at-home-mom to my 14 year old son Griffin, almost 2 year old daughter Maya Grace, and new baby girl Sadie. My scrapbooking began shortly after Griffin was born (complete with sticker-sneeze and creatively shaped cropped photos), and has developed into an intense love for all things paper realted. My camera is always at my side, ready to capture the every day moments that become the subjects of my scrapbook pages. I scrap because I want to remember all the little things, not just the holidays and birthday parties and major events (although those are important, too). I want to remember that Griffin refused to have his picture taken for a year, that Maya Grace’s hair is the curliest right after bath time, and that Sadie has the.best.dimples.ever. I have found an intense love for the Core’dinations brand of products and can’t imagine scrapping without them. I love creating my own embellishments and trying different journaling techniques with these uber-cool papers. In addition to paper crafting, I’m addicted to my sewing machine and crochet hook, as well as my ipod, flip flops, and the beach, of course!

Love the colors and the amazing combination  of Core on this layout from Melissa & her signature typewriter journaling!

Products used:  Cosmo Cricut Core Impressions, Core Essentials.

And next is Sarah Hodgkinson our  Design Team Core’dinator. Here is a little bit about Sarah in her own words…

My name is Sarah Hodgkinson and I live in Woodstock, ON, Canada with my husband and two children. I have been scrapping since 2003. I am a teacher and enjoy spending my free time with scissors, glue and paper. I currently serve on several design teams including Core’dinations (DT Core’dinator), Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine, All About Scrapbooks & More (LSS), and Custom Crops. I have been published in many crafting magazines and enjoy teaching at scrapbooking events such as ScrapFest and CreativFestival each spring and fall in Ontario, Canada.

Check out Sarah’s sense of humour on this layout! You can always count on her for some fun!

This layout is based on a sketch from Becky Fleck’s PageMaps 2 book.

To create the grid paper for journaling, I found a grid graphic, changed it to a light blue and then printed it onto Snowflake white cardstock with the journaling layered on top. And don’t forget to add those crazy, fun photos!

And next up we have Shaunte Wadley. Here is a little bit about Shaunte in her own words…

I am a 30-something, chocolate-loving, SAHM from Utah. I have been scrapbooking since 1997, the dreaded era of photos cropped with deco scissors. Since then, my work has evolved into a clean, linear, photo-focused style. I have been published a few times, been to a few trade shows, taught a few classes, worked for a few design teams…but have not yet lost the love for this hobby. I love it for the creative outlet, and the good people I have met along the way. My favorite subjects to scrap are my husband and five kids (I never lack for subject material ) I especially like making mini-albums of our many trips together. When I’m not scrapping, I am traveling, blog-hopping, reading, or editing photo shoots. And doing laundry. Always laundry.

Loads of Basic Grey Core Impressions on this fun layout from Shaunte!!!

First up is Lecia Forrest.  Here is a little bit about Lecia in her own words:

I have been creative and passionate about art since I was able to hold a crayon. Constantly drawing on walls and signing my little sisters name to the artwork, I’ve embraced all the creativeness that scrapbooking brings. I first discovered it when I started traveling all over the world and realized I wanted to remember my experiences forever. Then I married the man of my dreams, and we had 2 boys (Riley:7, Jager:5) and a little girl (Ireland: almost 3). Now you will find me embracing the life of a mommy while still teaching locally and traveling internationally teaching scrapbooking and altered art classes where you are sure to have a good time laughing and learning. I have been published in U.S. & Canadian magazines, international websites and blogs. I have also worked on design/educator teams for many of the industry’s leading manufacturers. Currently I am an endorsed educator for Tattered Angels, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L ,Vintage Street Market, Urban Swank and Core’dinations.

Check out the cool details Lecia did with the doilies!  And the black accents on the edge of the cut out, shaped Basic Grey Core Impressions and My Mind’s Eye Core Impressions! Mixing and matching Core is  SO much FUN!

Next up is Lydia Jackson.  Here is a little bit about Lydia in her own words:

My name is Lydia Jackson and I live on the beautiful west coast of Canada, I am a SAHM, with two little boys who are my whole world. I am married to an adoring husband, who loves me, keeps me grounded and supports my addiction to paper. I love life and all it’s imperfections, and I live by and struggle with my motto, believe and anything is possible. I have been formally scrapbooking for 11 years, but I have been a crafter my whole life. I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Core-dinations design team, for me, it is a dream come true.

First up is Debbie Standard.  Here is a little bit about Debbie in her own words:

My name is Debbie Standard and I have been scrapping for about 10 years now. I have been a Critical Care Nurse for 16 years. I am now employed as head of the Trauma Case Managers at a Level 1 Trauma Center. I work full time and still put in about 5 hours a week charging in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit. I am also a mother to four, three daughters and a son. Between my husband and myself we have a total of six children, eleven grandchildren and one great-greatchild (by his oldest granddaughter), three cats. I love scrapping – it’s my therapy. Once I started submitting for publishing I’ve been addicted. So much fun to see what I have created in a magazine – I never get over the thrill! I have been published in several magazines and am on several card DTs as well as Core’dinations.  I have met some wonderful people through design teams and boards. I am so excited to be a part of Core’dinations Design Team for another year. This cardstock is such an exciting product and I am so looking forward with working with this impressive group of Design Team members!

Supplies used for this layout:

Cosmo Cricket Core Impressions, Basic Grey Core Impressions
Core Essentials, Fancy Pants Core Impressions

Next up is Kim Jeffress.  Here is a little bit about Kim in her own words:

Hi my name is Kim Jeffress and I hail from beautiful sunny Brisbane Australia. I started my creative journey into scrapbooking about 8 years ago when I met my husband, then boyfriend, who worked out of town and I needed something to keep me busy during the week. A former kindergarten teacher now SAHM, my biggest inspiration for my scrapping are my two active little boys. I like to scrap the good and the not so good aspects of their little lives…the things that they say and do, and the little everyday things that I don’t want to forget. I am very fortunate to be on the design team for Australian Scrapbooking Memories magazine as well as several online shops and manufacturers so I get to work with many different products. I love the feel of embossed, roughed up or textured cardstock as it adds a fabulous rustic feel to my boys pages. I would describe my style as clean, fresh and vibrant with a touch of whimsy! I am soooo very excited to be joining the fabulous team at CORE!!
