We are here having fun this week with Couture Creations. It’s no secret that Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock looks fabulous with dies and embossing folder especially when you sand, sand, sand!  Couture Creations is  an Australian owneda & loved brand, Couture Creations is the culmination of 20 years experience in the scrapbooking industry. From its final inception in 2010, Couture Creations has been devoted to producing expertly designed, high quality products overseen by veteran designers & crafters for a result that is both simple and elegant.

Make sure you head over to their BLOG, PINTERESTFACEBOOK pages to find out all the other chances you can win. Here is a sneak of what is going on over there today.  Please keep in mind we are in two different time zones so in case we are off on our times bit please forgive us.   We are getting our coffee ready when they are getting ready for bed.

So…today! What do we have for you today?  First up we have some projects from Debbie Standard:

Debbie used loads of Core’dinations Core Essentials, Black Magic and Spotted Cardstock. Love those banner ribbons along the bottom in the May Arts ribbon? So pretty! Coutre Creations products are  Fresh and Fun embossging folders and the Fantasia Doily dies (these are gorgeous!!!!).

And Designer Mary Pat Siehl created a fresh winter card for us today as well using some Whitewash and doesn’t the sanding with the Couture Creations Super Powder Puff embossing folder look amazing!? And she accented it with some gemstones, too! Don’t forget about the Couture Creations double sided foam mounting tape…perfect for that dimension on the sentiment.

Here’s a little bit about this card from Mary Pat:

When I saw the embossing folder (Super Powder Puff) my Core brain immediately thought of the Whitewash collection.  I thought the two would be perfect together for a nice winter type card.  I embossed the cardstock and then lightly sanded it to bring out the beautiful blue color.  I then stamped my sentiment on matching cardstock and attached it to my card.  I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to the card so I added some sparkle twine and some huge bling gems.  I love the soft look.

And if you want to win some Core’dinations awesomeness here’s how:

Only TWO days left of our Design Team introductions! Time flies, doesn’t it?

Before we get started today, we wanted to let you know about ANOTHER fun week next week filled with MORE inspiration, MORE fun and MORE giveaways!!!  So don’t go far. If you love Core, stamps and ribbon come back Monday.

Today we are introducing Gail Linder!

My name is Gail Lindner and I live in sunny Queensland, Australia. I have a wonderful, hardworking husband, a beautiful (and energetic) 5 year old daughter and gorgeous 20 month old baby boy.I’ve been scrapbooking for over 12 years now and I can’t imagine my life without it! I started scrapbooking in 1999 on a trip to the USA. I picked up a scrapbooking magazine and the rest is history! I immediately knew it was the hobby for me as it encompasses everything I love – memories, photos, memorabilia and (let’s face it) pretty things! I’m mostly inspired by my photos and the stories I want to tell. I love the idea of conveying my thoughts and experiences in my scrapbooking for my daughter to read in the future. I like to keep my layouts fairly uncluttered and balanced, with the photos the main focus. My style includes lots of distressing, inking, layering and sewing. Apart from scrapbooking I enjoy blogging, organising and shopping (all related to scrapbooking of course!)

Check out her blog here for more fabulous inspiration!

Now, let’s chat about this layout for a second…see those stripes?  NOT patterned paper. Nope..those are sanded strips of Black Magic! How cool is that?   Here is a little bit about this layout from Gail:

The idea for my layout came from the “currently” lists that I’ve seen floating around the internet. I recently celebrated my birthday and took a self portrait with my iphone on that day so I thought the two tied together nicely!
I wanted quite a bold, look for my layout and of course I wanted to incorporate my favourite colors! I ended up creating my own background by cutting strips of the black cardstock and adhering them to my white background, in diagonal stripes. I love that by sanding the edges of the black strips they seemed to “blend” into the background a bit more. I was then able to add accents in watermelon pink, aqua and that gorgeous chartreuse green!
For a fun photo mat, I used my Scor-Pal to score a simple border around the cardstock mat that my photo was layered on. I was aiming for a polaroid-type feel!
When I was almost finished my layout, I thought it was looking a bit flat so at the last minute I tucked a white core tag in behind the photo mat and tied a big ribbon bow. Finishes it off nicely!
I think I’m addicted to creating striped backgrounds with cardstock now!

Those stripes in the Black Magic are brilliant!

Today we have new Design Team Member…… Suzanna Lee!

Check out more about Suzanna and her projects on her blog HERE. Here is a little bit about her:

What can I say? I’m just a woman who is obsessed with her husband, her 2 kids, her camera (a Nikon!), living life to the fullest and preserving our memories as we go! Michael and I have been happily married for 14 years. Together we are raising two amazing children—Nikolas, 10, and Mia,almost 7.

I am very diverse when it comes to styles and techniques. I can’t claim any one as a main stay in my projects. I range from clean and simple to layered and packed with little details. The paper and photographs speak to me and I do what feels right. New styles, techniques, products, etc. are some of the major things that offer me inspiration. I am always excited to try new things and new opportunities, in life and with paper crafting.

When I’m not hiding behind my camera or cutting and creating both mess and beauty, I’m a physical therapist. I love what I do and love that it helps fund my hobby and collection! Who needs purses and shoes when you can have paper and embellishments?!

And how much do you loooooove the color combo of this layout??? I just love learning all these random bits about Suzanna.

And some close ups:

Ohhhhhh…embossing! :) Our 6×6 pads are a great way to add small deatils to layouts….they aren’t just for cards!

Now a little bit about Suzanna’s layout:

Every now and again, I try to do a page about myself. My kids love pouring through the albums and love seeing themselves but I know there will come a time when they will wish there was more of Mum and Dad. I know I love learning the little details of my parents’ lives. This layout served that purpose as well as sharing a little bit about myself with you. Random bits about Suzanna Lee. I literally wrote the first 5 thoughts that came to mind. I did say random! I also wanted to showcase how amazing core is! There is one piece of patterned paper on this page, the majority of the paper is Core of one type or another. All those different lines come together as a cohesive whole! Amazing!

Tuesday Tip–Chalkboard layouts!

Chalkboard is all the rage these days and did you know that Black Magic is perfect for it?  For this layout, Designer Leica Forrest used a few diffferent kind of Black Magic with a blue and pink core. This layout was in our booth at CHA and everyone LOVED it. The texture is just amazing!

Tip 1.) Make it look like it’s really chalk by using the Outlining technique. New to outlining? All you do is take some removable adhesive and put your chipboard letters on your kraft mat and then sand over. You can check out the Technique Video HERE. Leica used this technqiue for the “Family”  title.

Tip 2.) Sand punched pieces and layer them on your layout base it looks like it is chalk. See that scalloped piece above the Family tile?  Leica punched first, sanded and then adhered it. It looks just like a colored piece of chalkboard! She used the same technique for the banner along the bottom of the photo.

Tip 3.)  Use your white gel pen or marker on the Black Magic just as you would with any other cardstock. Highlight the title…add some journaling….doodle…add some Queen & Co. bling…whatever you want! Looks awesome, don’t you think?

Are you? Don’t forget you have until Sunday night to get the challenges done! That is a ton of time!

Challenges are listed here and Rules are posted here.

Design Team Member Melissa Oliveira created this gorgeous card for Debbie Standard’s ribbon challenge.  Here is how she did it:

Begin by sanding the edges of a dark green card base from Core’dinations, then add a layer of black Pearls cardstock (from our Cardmaker series) and a slightly smaller piece of red embossed Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions. Add black photo corners for a bit more detail. Trim a piece of green May Arts ribbon and adhere to the card with a snowflake cut from a piece of May Arts trim, embellish with a rhinestone from Queen & Co. Die cut a bracket shape onto a piece of Black Magic, and punch a scalloped circle form a gold piece of Glitter Silk, mounting with foam squares to the center of the card. Finish by stamping a Cats Life Press “christmas time” image onto a piece of Snowflake Core Essentials and punching into a circle shape.

Some details of the sanding:
