Fabulous Friday Finds

Today’s FABULOUS Friday Find comes from Maggie Lamarre. The details on this layout are amazing and

it is just perfect for Mother’s Day this weekend!

Here is a little bit about this layout from Maggie in her own words,

As we get ready to celebrate this Mother’s day, I wanted to create a layout of the favorite places my daughter and I love to hang out together. Until this day most of our mother/daughter getaways involve spending time at a theme park or enjoying the many attractions available here in Florida.

I’m Maggie from PassionatelyArtistic.com, I wanted to share a simple way to incorporate glitter very easily into your projects by using Core’dinations Core Couture cardstock. There is no mess… just beautiful glittered cardstock, the best part is the glitter stays in place with no worries about wandering glitter. (We SO agree, Maggie!)

Here on the Core blog! Check out this cool mask Design Team Member Char Dobson created with her Cricut.   Once Char cut the mask from some Black Magic Cardstock, she tore Gemstones Cardstock for the feathers and then embellished with some Queen & Co pearls. Then just finish it off with some ribbon and you are done!

And check out this cute model!  Such a fun and easy project for a party or even a craft project to do with your kids.

Have a great week!!!

Happy Thursday!

One quick thing before we get started we want to make sure you head back here tomorrow because we have a give-a-way ready to go for Friday and it lasts all weekend long so make sure you check back tomorrow!

S000000000000000000000….

Here on the East Coast it’s been cooooold.  But just because it’s cold doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate a little bit of life and color around there! And if you know us here at Core’dinations…we LOVE color.

So let’s start with the primary colors…or at least two of them. Hera Frei created this layout using blue and yellow and a few neutrals.  Core Essentials is the perfect cardstock to use when you are searching for color. And our paper packs make it easy for you! And make sure you check out that totally cool random embossing!   Your Quickutz handles, rolling pins and hammers make it easy for you to do this fun technique.

And a colorful card from Sarah Hodgkinson. On this card Sarah uses color blocking that is really striking and simple. And take notice NO sanding! GASP! yes, we do that around here, too!  Don’t be afraid to use your Core’dinations “as is”. It’s beautiful and effective.

Red, Teal and Yellow make a striking color combination from Melissa Oliveira especially against the black background. AND if you use some Black Magic, you can accent one of the main colors by choosing a “core’dinating” core color with your Black Magic. Melissa created this layout last year but when looking through the gallery, this color combo really jumped out at me.  There are so many great details, too…the stamping with myStampBox stamps, the sanding with the Black Magic under the title in the upper left corner,  the Jenni Bowlin Core Impression title,  the embossing…so fun!

HAVE A COLORFUL WEEKEND!!!

Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM CORE’DINATIONS CARDSTOCK!

Sarah Hodgkinson has a wonderful tutorial for us today. It’s perfect for this time of year.

Here’s a project that can be used each year as part of your festive giving and/or decorating. Create a take-out box which can be filled with Hershey Kisses or other wrapped candy and then used as a night time decoration to hang on a tree, sit on a mantel or perch at a foyer table.
Supplies Needed:
- Abracadabra Black Magic cardstock (Core’dinations)
- Sanding block (Core’dinations)
- Kraft or white take-out box (i.e., Michael’s)
- White rubon letters (e.g., Maya Road)
- Mini-chipboard houses (Maya Road)
- Snowflake embossing folder or texture plate (Sizzix/Basic Grey) and diecutting machine (e.g., Big Shot by Sizzix)
- Paint (Making Memories)
- White pen (Uniball)
- Vellum
- Layering tape (Helmar)
- Closet LED light with batteries (any dollar store)
- Paper trimmer
- Ruler
- Pin or thumb tack
- Pencil

Here’s a project that can be used each year as part of your festive giving and/or decorating. Create a take-out box which can be filled with Hershey Kisses or other wrapped candy and then used as a night time decoration to hang on a tree, sit on a mantel or perch at a foyer table.

Supplies Needed:

- Abracadabra Black Magic cardstock (Core’dinations)

- Sanding block (Core’dinations)

- Kraft or white take-out box (i.e., Michael’s)

- White rubon letters (e.g., Maya Road)

- Mini-chipboard houses (Maya Road)

- Snowflake embossing folder or texture plate (Sizzix/Basic Grey) and diecutting machine (e.g., Big Shot by Sizzix)

- Paint (Making Memories)

- White pen (Uniball)

- Vellum- Layering tape (Helmar)

- Closet LED light with batteries (any dollar store)

- Paper trimmer

- Ruler- Pin or thumb tack

- Pencil

Here are some images of the supplies for you:

Now let’s get started:

  1. Take apart the take away box so that you can easily work with it. Using the white side of the Abracadabra cardstock, trace the shape of one side of the take away box. Cut it out using a paper trimmer. Using a ruler, measure ¼” in from each of the four sides and cut again using your paper trimmer.
  2. Emboss Abracadabra using a snowflake embossing folder. I used the new Basic Grey/Sizzix one for this project. Sand to reveal the white core.
  3. Paint three Maya Road mini-chipboard houses and allow to dry. Once dry, use a white pen to add “snow” to the roof and window of each house. Cut a small amount of vellum paper and adhere to the backside of each house to cover the windows.
  4. Cut small holes from the Abracadabra where the windows will be to allow the light through. Using a pin or thumb tack, poke holes into the embossed snowflakes to allow more light through.
  5. Attach the houses to the Abracadabra with layering tape. Rub the white letters for “Joy” onto the Abracadabra or another festive word.
  6. Glue Abracadabra to the kraft box. Reassemble the box. Place LED light in the bottom of the box. Fill with wrapped treats!

Stay tuned for the final Winner of the 12 Days of Techniques this week! We will be back after a few days “vacation” and some more inspiration. Don’t forget to leave a comment here to win the goodies from the last day and share your projects with us on Facebook. We would looove to see if you were inspired from our 12 Days of Techniques!

I took a class that had some debossing projects and it was very easy and looked great. A Cuddlebug would be the ideal thing to pratice this fun technique.
