How to Wrap Holiday Baked Goods

I don’t know about you, but fall baking season is here, which means I’m planning out some of my holiday baking and my gifts of baked goods this year.  We are blessed with a lot of wonderful friends, and I enjoy giving cookies and sweet breads to let them know how much we appreciate them!  Baking = sharing, and baked goods are a gift that’s easy on a tight budget and are always well-recieved. Today I’ll show you how to dress up mini loaves of bread to make them special gifts for the special people in your life – and this idea will work for any small box of goodies, as well (like 1-lb fudge boxes)!

baked-goods-gift-tags-Coredinations Baked Goods Gift Tag Supplies:

  • Core’dinations Spotted 12×12 sheets – shown here are Tillie Vanilla Cream and Tillie Scarlet
  • Coredinations Core Essentials – shown in Vanilla Cream and Grape Gusto
  • Paper trimmer
  • Paper score board
  • Sizzix Big Shot and gift tags die
  • Rubber alphabet stamps and ink in coordinating colors
  • Baker’s twine
  • Optional embellishments: rubber stamps, small flower punches, mini brads

How to Wrap Up Holiday Food Gifts 11

Step 1.  Trim 12″ papers in 2 coordinated colors to 2.5″ and 1.75″ wide, by 12″ long.  (I trimmed the vanilla cream to 2.5″, and the darker papers to 1.75″)  Measure and determine the dimensions of your bread tin, treat box, or wrapped loaf, and score a line at each of the corners.  (Tip: Once you score the first one, you can use it as a template for all future wrappers.)

Step 2. Cut 2-hole tags with your die-cutting machine of choice (mine is my Big Shot).  Any shape or style of tag will work, as long as you can punch it with 2 holes in each side to tie onto your box.

How to Wrap Up Holiday Food Gifts 4

Step 3. Stamp your tags.  Phrases like “with love”, “for you”, or “happy holidays” are universal and can be prepared in advance of your big baking day, but don’t overlook personal touches like “love, Adrianne” or “for the Smith Family”.

How to Wrap Up Holiday Food Gifts 7

Step 4. (Optional.) Add embellishments.  Small punches of flowers, leaves, or snowflakes attached with small brads add even more personality to your packaging.

How to Wrap Up Holiday Food Gifts 6

Step 5. Layer your paper onto your bread tin or treat box, and tie the tag on with baker’s twine.  You can tape it on the bottom if you like; I didn’t bother.  The twine will hold it in place.

Step 6. Give gifts to special people, and feel great about it!

Baked goods will brighten anyone’s day, but putting effort into dressing them up makes it even more special to your recipient.  Delicious bread given in tin foil says, ” I was baking, and I thought of you.”  Delicious bread in this sweet and simple gift wrapping says, “I was thinking of you, so I baked!”

Happy Friendship Day!

National Friendship Day is the perfect excuse to make a cute card for a friend!
Core’dinations Supplies:
Misc. Core’dinations scraps
Other Supplies:
Couture Creations Embossing Folder
Papertrey Ink Button Dies
EK Success Corner Rounder
Xyron Sticker Maker
Helmar ZapDots
How To:
1) The white card base is 4.5″ x 6″ of Core’dinations Neutral Snowflake with the top right and bottom left corners rounded.
2) I embossed the Core’dinations Whitewash background (4.25″ x 5.75″) with a Couture Creations Embossing Folder.
3) The embossed piece was then sanded with Core’dinations Sand It Gadget and dusted with the Dust Buddy to let the blue core show through.
4) Then, I printed my sentiment on Core’dinations Smooth Oval Tags.
***Tip: When using Core Tags in your printer, it is  best to print the sentiment out on a piece of paper first to make sure that your sentiment will fit on your tag.  Then attach your Core Tag with semi-permanant adhesive over the already printed sentiment and print the sentiment again.  Always perfect placement when done this way!
5) Colorful ribbon was then added to the printed tag was glued with ZapDots 1/3 up from the bottom of the card.
6) The colorful die cut buttons are made from scraps of Core’dinations Cardstock.  Once cut, I ran them through my Xyron X Sticker Maker and sanded/dusted them before adding them to the embossed circles.
7)  Give the card to a friend and you are sure to make them smile!

Painting your cards and more with Kate!

Kate Nolan Denhame here and I am all about the Tim Holtz Distressed Cardstock from Core’dinations.  Did you know this line of cardstock coordinates perfecly with most of the Distress Paints?  It sure does!

I started this card by pulling out the colors I wanted to use from the Distress Collection Cut & Emboss Series, Bundled Sage and Chipped Sapphire.  Then I found the matching Distress Paints in my collection and went to work.
I love how the texture of the cardstock shows through even with the Distress Paint!  I loved it so much I made another card using the same technique and a simple tutorial for you.
1) Start with a 4.5″ x 6″ card base made with Snowflake Core’dinations Cardstock (Neutrals Collection)
2) Cut, sand & dust colored cardstock mats from Distress Collection Cut & Emboss Series:
    a) 5.5″ x 4.25″ in Rusty Hinge
    b) 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ in Wild Honey
    c) 5.25″ x 4″ in Spiced Marmalade

3) Cut a 5″ x 3.75″ piece of Snowflake Core’dinations Cardstock.  This will be your canvas for the matching Distress Paints.

4) Place the cut piece of Snowflake on a Splat Mat with a wave stencil at the bottom.  *I used Cascade Trails by Kiwi Lane.  I also recommend taping the stencil so it doesn’t slide (believe me, it will!)

5) Run your Distress Paint along the top of the wave stencil.  *Some hints on this one…test your Distress Paint before you use it on your cut cardstock &  make sure do not use too much paint.

6) Delicately lift the stencil off of your cardstock.

7) Immediately clean the paint off the front and back of stencil.  The best way I found to do this is just with a dry paper towel.
8) Reposition the stencil over the last wave you painted.  This allows the waves to line up.

9)  Repeat steps 7 and 8.

10)  Allow the paint to completely dry before adding a stamped sentiment in the bottom right hand corner (if you want it like my first card). For my second card I trimmed the painted mat by 1/2″ and split the sentiment.

11)  Mat the painted cardstock onto the mats you created in step 2.

12)  Glue the matted cardstock on to the center front of your card base.

13)  Add simple embellishments around the sentiment.

14)  Give to someone to enjoy!

Tracy Gruber has some amazing projects for us today. ENJOY!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Winter cards are so fun to make with Core’dinations card stock because you can rip the paper to look just like snow! Start with a white card base that measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (A2 size). Next cut a light blue mat that measures 4″ x 5 1/4.” Then cut a piece of White Wash card stock with a blue background to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and then emboss it with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder and sand it with the Sand It Gadget. Rip two strips of white card stock from the Neutrals Essentials pad to fit along the bottom of the embossed snowflake piece. Stamp the sentiment from Lawn Fawn on top of the white card stock. Next, cut out the snowman image from the Winter Frolic Cricut cartridge at 3 1/4.” I used the white and brown card stock from the Neutrals paper pad, the teal, lime green, and orange card stock from the Brights paper pad, and the light pink from the Pastels paper pad. I attached that to the card base with Tombow 3D Foam Tabs. Finish the card by adding twine from The Twinery.
-Core’dinations White Wash paper pad
-Sand It Gadget
-Dust Buddy
-Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
-Snowflakes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Creating Winter Layouts is even more fun when there is glitter involved! For my layout, I pulled out my Core Couture card stock and got to work! I used the white, navy blue, and light blue Core Couture and punched them out with a 1.5″ circle punch from Fiskars. Next, emboss each of the circles with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and sand them with the Sand It Gadget. Arrange them onto a piece of gray card stock from the Neutrals Essentials paper pad. Emboss three lines around the edge of the gray card stock and sand it with the Sand It Gadget. Finish the layout by adding a title, snowflakes, and branches.
-Sand It Gadget
-Dust Buddy
-Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder
-Fiskars 1.5″ circle punch
-My Favorite Things snowflake dies
-Martha Stewart branch punch
-May Arts Natural twine
-October Afternoon letter stickers
I love to use the White Wash Collection on my layouts! Start with a 12×12 piece of White Wash card stock that has a kraft/brown background and emboss two lines on easy edge. Sand over them to make the color show through. Next, cut a piece of light blue card stock from the Pastels paper pad to 10″ x 10.” Adhere that down to the 12×12 piece. Cut three squares of White Wash card stock with a blue backing to 3” x 3,” emboss them with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder, and sand them with the Sand It Gadget. Cut the title at 1 1/4″ from the Alphalicious Cricut cartridge. Sand the top and the bottom of each letter so the blue shows through and leaves the middle white. It creates a cool ombre effect. Add snowflakes, buttons, twine, and sequins to complete the layout.
