Valentine’s Day Inspiration Week Day TWO!

Today we have designer Andrea Amu with the Tuesday Tip to create a handmade gift for that special someone….grandmothers, moms, dads, teacher’s aunts, uncles…this is perfect for ANYONE!
Framed subway art! How cool is this. Just create the cuts on your Cricut or diecutting machine and viola! You have the perfect gift for anyone, anytime of year.
And Andrea has some great tips:
1.) Back the cuts in a lighter color so they really pop.
2.) Cuts don’t line up exactly how you want? Add little embellishments!
3.) AND, of course, a photo! Personalizing it will mean so much.
4.) Add a doily for that soft, feminine touch.
5.) And don’t spend a ton on a frame. Get them on sale at your craft store. You can paint them any color you like!
And a detail:

Today Char is creating with us and she created these awesome paper lanterns. The great thing about Core is that you can create them in EVERY color possible! For our list of Core Essentials that we carry please check them out here. In SIX easy steps you can have some very own paper lanterns of your own. If you look underneath the title there is a download button so you can save to your own computer.
AND if you want to make them for yourself then check out the instructions HERE. You can find “how to’s” on almost everything out there today including these fabulous paper lanterns. They would be great for Valentine’s Day or even a Super Bowl party. Whatever the festivities are, these paper lanterns fit the bill for fabulous and fun! And nothing screams a party like Core
Here are some the shots Char took of them hanging in her home:
Char mixed and matched some Core Impressions and Spotted. Just Sand and Viola! You have a great look.

Step #2: Trim bowl edges if necessary.
Prepare your work area – we just use and old plastic placemat.
Cover the entire bowl with Modge Podge, first one side and then the other.
Let dry overnight.
Step #3: Your finished project!
Such a great way to use those scraps of cardstock!
To Sand or Not to Sand…

That is the question for this Tuesday’s Tip.
For this card Linda Beeson sanded the pre-embossed Stacy Julian Core Impressions cardstock lightly for a soft effect:

Hera Frei uses the same paper line from Stacy Julian coupled with some Cosom Cricket Core Impressions without sanding:

Well..How about both? Heather Bowser left her Core Essentionals background paper as is and then sanded her pumpkins:

How do you decide whether a projects needs that little extra touch of sanding? We would love to hear your thoughts!

Did you know Core’dinations can also be used as your go-to cardstock. . . no technique required? We all love the different techniques such as sanding, tearing, embossing and all the other techniques you can do BUT Core’dinations Cardstock can be used as your everyday cardstock, too.
Here are some great designs from our DT that showcase how you can use Core’dinations as your everyday, reach for first, cardstock. You can use it to mount photos, as your background, journal on it and print on it, too!
Here are some great examples of those techniques:
