Core’dinations

And Today we have a project for from Designer Jennifer Edwardson:

I have been a HUGE Tombow adhesive fan for a very long time, so naturally I was excited to show off my love of this glue for the Core’dinations / Tombow Blog Hop !!
One of my fave Tombow adhesives is the Glue Pen.  It truly is the best for adhereing tiny little pieces without having any excess glue sneak out the sides :) )

I started this card using a piece of Core’dinations cardstock from the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection (No. 28 – LOVE the kraft core) …… I cut a 12 x 12″ sheet down to 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 and then folded it in half to open like a tent.  I then put the front of the card base into the Darice Woodgrain embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot.  I lightly sanded off the top layer and got a super effect for the front of the card

Using several different pieces of cardstock from the 6 x 6″ pkgs, I cut the branch, owls and hearts using my Silhouette.  Because this cutting tool is so precise, you can get teeny tiny little pieces of cardstock.  This is why I love the Tombow Glue Pen.  It was so easy for me to ‘draw’ my glue onto the back of all these little bits and they adhered perfectly where I wanted them …..

To finish it off I adhered a sentiment sticker from the David Tutera Celebrate Card Making system using 3D foam ….. Too cute !!

And check out these tiny pieces…you DEFINITELY need a tool like the Tombow Glue pen to get in those details and not make a mess.

Mixing and Matching with Suzanna Lee

One of the great things about Core is that you can mix and match ALL of our lines together SEAMLESSLY!  This first card by Designer Suzanna Lee mixes Core’dinations lines and the David Tutera Celebrate layers to make the CUTEST card! Please, two different sized googley eyes?  How ca-ute is that?!???!?!
Here are some tidbits from Suzanna regarding these projects:
One of the many amazing things about Coredinations is the texture you can create. The embossability of Core made it possible to create a whole beach scene; the waves below from Glitter Silk, the sunny sky from David Tutera layers and the clouds from good ol Snowflake. The Glitter Silk creates a lovely glimmer of sun reflecting off the waves! I prefer to stamp on a solid cardstock and find that the tags are the perfect size for that very purpose.

And next up a black and yellow card…one of my FAVE color combos!!! AND the Darice honeycomb/hexagon embosing folder is too perfect for this theme.
This card is inspired by the bee stamp. Browsing the aisles of the store, this stamp caught my eye and screamed, take me home with you! (Ever have that happen to you?!). Emboss some Core for a subtle hive for her to buzz around and you have an adorable card!

And a layout using some super cool techniques! Paper tearing…inking the Spotted Cardstock..Suzanna really works it here!
One of the tag lines for Core-dinations is Tear it and that’s what I challenged myself to do with this layout. I have a tearing phobia… I like things nice and neat and clean. There is nothing neat about tearing… I get in a quiet panic just at the thought of tearing. Sound familiar? Well, take a deep breath and do as I did, remind yourself that you have a thousand more pieces of paper in your stash and it’s okay of you “mess it up”. Though if you think about it, you can’t really mess it up. Tearing is tearing and it’s supposed to look that way! Right? Another nifty little thing I did with this layout is paint. Actually I used a brayer to roll paint onto the Spotted Jillian dot for a multi-color effect. Amazing what you can do with Core!!!

Summer Layouts and more with Tracy Gruber

Happy Wednesday! We hope you are enjoying your summer so far and today we want to start out with a super summery layout from Design Team Member Tracy Gruber.  I always struggle with white as a base for my layouts but Tracy makes it looks so easy! Plus…all  that embossing just makes me happy. :)

Nothing says summer like the Core’dinations Brights Card Stock paper pad!  The colors in this collection match the colors of the sunset almost perfectly.  I used a couple of different techniques on this layout including tearing, embossing, and sanding.  I also used Distress Inks and a water brush to make the water-colored looking circles.

Turtley Awesome
I love to combine Core’dinations cardstock with stamps, especially when I am creating a “scene” on my card.  The tan card stock is perfect for sand, because when you tear it, it looks just like a beach!  I also used a piece of light blue card stock, which I embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and then sanded with the Sand It Gadget.  It makes a perfect sky!

One of my favorite types of Core’dinations paper is the Core Couture Glitter.  Why? Because I love glitter and this card stock has plenty of it!  I used the black Core Couture Glitter card stock as the background, along with a Core Tag to stamp the sentiment on.  I used a Cuttlebug die to cut out the 3-D flowers from the Core’dinations Pastels, Brights, and Darks paper pads.  I then sanded the edges of them to add some texture.

We’re BACK!

July 8, 2013 by
Filed under Core Blog, Helmar Adhesives, Scor Pal

Wahoo! Our site is up and we are ready to rock-n-roll! But we did lose a few blog posts from earlier this week so today is one of those posts. Unfortunately they were some Fourth of July posts so it may seem a little  late so sorry about that!

BUT the good thing is that you can make these stars ANY time of the year! They look SO good on layouts, too.  Keep on reading for some great step-by-step directions from Designer Kate Nolan-Denham!

KatieCoreJuneCard

1)Create a card base, A2 size, made out of Red Rose Core’dinations Cardstock.

2)Cut a piece of White Glove CoreCouture Glitter Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″. Glue to card base.

3)Deboss a piece of Navy Cardstock from the 4.25 x 5.5″ Darks collection and layer it on top of the white mat. I used Craft Concepts Solid Stars embossing folder for this card. The debossing is a GREAT contrast to the raised stars, don’t you think?

4)Die cut 3 larger stars in different sizes and 2 small stars out of the Red Rose cardstock leftover from making the base of the card.  I used Sizzix Star Framelits.

5)Score each large star at each point.

KateCoreJune3a

6)Scor the stars along the scored lines and sand them with the Sandit Gadget to give them a 3-D effect.

KatieCoreJuneCard2

7)Die cut a label shape out of the White Glove CoreCouture Glitter Cardstock, trim the bottom of it so it will be flush with the White Glove mat already on the card.

8)Stamp the sentiment on the label you die cut in #7. I used Spellbinders Label.

9)Add the stars and sentiment label to the card using 3-D foam. I used Helmar Zapdots.

10)Give to someone.  This card is bound to brighten anyone’s day!

Cards, Cards, and a layout!

Creating with the Tim Holtz Kraft Core Shattered line is SO MUCH fun! This card was just perfect for using this line.   Did you know that all the Kraft Core lines Core’dinate? Design Team Member Debbie Standard embossed the Core shattered and lightly sanded it so that it would show both the Shattered as well as the embossed image.

Supply List:
Tim Holtz Kraft Core Shattered

Sand it Gadget
Dust Buddy
Cuttlebug
Lifestyle Crafts Folder
American Crafts sticker
Creative Charms flowers
Queen & Co. Pearls

Debbie made this card using some of the Tim Holtz Shattered collection in the 6 X 6.  This time she didn’t emboss it just left it as is.  Then she layered it over Core Essentials Brights cardstock and stamped on the back of the white for the top of the card.

And a layout using some BasicGrey Core Impressions: According to Debbie, she loves creating  layouts using some of the Core Impressions as the background .  Sanded and dusted it creates such a great palette to use on your page.
