‘Tis the Season for Weddings!

Not sure about you but wedding season is in full swing for us in the summer and today Designer Gail Linder has some gorgeous engagement cards for you today.  Gail mixes and matches our cardstock brilliantly! Glitter Silk and Chocolate Box?  Fabulous!

Here is a little bit about these gorgeous cards from Gail:

I’ve had a couple of family members announce engagements recently so I created a couple of cards to celebrate the good news! I started by choosing a gorgeous card from the Chocolate Box collection and cutting a couple of designs out from my Cameo. In the end I settled on the fun sunburst and polaroid and went from there!
For the blue card, I chose the background from the Gemstone collection as the gave it an elegant feel. I’ve embossed the background and adhered my sanded polaroid over the top with pop dots, adding some patterned paper and a red Gemstone card underneath the cut out pieces.
Similarly, behind the sanded sunburst (be careful sanding the fine frame) I used a pink Glittersilk card to add a bit of elegance. The leaves were die cut from Gemstone cardstock also and the project was completed with the fun pink flower!
I added the same greeting to both cards, stamped on a Core Bookmark which I then trimmed with the banner ends. The white bookmark card was so wonderful to stamp on!
So there you have two card designs, made into elegant engagement cards by using specialty cardstock but imagine the same designs in different colors for any occasion!

Now….on to the good stuff…..
Today we are saying hello  to Clare Buswell!
Here is a little bit about Clare:

Hi! My name is Clare Buswell. I live in the south-west of Ireland in the countryside with Niall and our lovely 5 year old daughter Isabelle.

I’ve always been creative in some form or another, I studied graphic design at art college. I only discovered the whole world of paper-crafting after the birth of my daughter when I had little time but longed to be creative again. Card-making was the perfect answer for me and is now my passion. I also really love to make 3D paper projects. I love stamping, quilling and making my own embellishments, especially paper flowers! I love trying out different techniques and coming up with my own. I also love to paint with acrylics and watercolors.

I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published in Paper Crafts, CARDS and CardMaker magazines in the US and I design regularly for Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine in the UK.

When I’m not paper-crafting I love to spend my time gardening, baking and with my family.

I’m really excited to be part of the Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock design team!

If you have been to Clare’s blog you will notice she isn’t a layout girl…her cards are incredible so she did her signature paper ruffles for us today! You will see more of this gorgeous, handmade technique in the future and if you want to learn how to do it yourself, check out Clare’s blog HERE.
You can get some really realistic looking paper ruffles using this simple technique. Once you get the hang of it you can apply your paper ruffles to your cards and layouts in lots of different ways.  Here is how she does it:
To make the ruffles I cut strips of Core’dinations cardstock approx 1 1/2″ deep, mist the back of the cardstock with water, leave for a minute and the cardstock becomes malleable and easy to form into ruffles. Just be careful not to wet it too much! Once you’ve shaped your ruffles, leave to dry and apply to your projects with double sided tape. For a detailed tutorial you can visit my blog.
For my first card I went for an ombre effect and layered tones of blue and turquoise ruffles on my card. When layering the ruffles always start at the bottom. You can enhance the edges of the ruffles by gently rubbing them with your Sand It Gadget for some added texture.
Swoooooooooooooon!

Inking with Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Shattered Collection

So our  BRAND NEW Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Shattered collection is so cool!  If you love Tim Holtz products and Kraft-Core then you will undoubtedly love this collection, too. You can use it as is or do fun techniques to it just like Design Team Member Debbie Standard did on this layout. Inks soak up into the the kraft and leaves the crackle finish…it is SO COOL! Check it out….

Here is a little bit about this layout from Debbie:

In creating this page I used some Core’dination’s Tim Holtz Kraft Core to start with.  I sanded it all over to start and then wanted to create clouds. To make them I put a piece of cloud chipboard behind the paper where I wanted the clouds and again sanded over the chipboard – moved it and sanded again until I got the effect that I wanted. Along the bottom portion of the sanded background, I stamped with a checked stamp.  Then I used some of the new Tim Holtz Shattered Collection.

Some of the  lighter sheets are just perfect for inking!  I needed two different colors so the center portion I inked using some light brown inks.  Then on this other section I wanted more of the turquoise so I inked this piece with some blues.  Keep inking until you get the color you want.  I just love how this Shattered collection looks when you ink it! You can use ANY color you want…it makes this collection so versatile!

Here are some close-ups:

Can you see the blue ink and the brown ink?

How cool are these clouds?  You can do this outlining technique with ANY KIND of chipboard!

HERE is a video to see how it’s done:

And a shot of the stamping:

Here you can see the different inks  Debbie used against each other:

We hope you can get creative with the Tim Holtz KRaft-Core Shattered!

It’s shipping NOW!

Stampendous, Tim Holtz Kraft-Core, and Ranger Distress Stains

WE ARE STILL GOING STRONG WITH THE CROP!

ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT! Make sure you check out the Master Challenge List HERE.

Did you know that our friends over at Stampendous have a very fun challenge for us for our Hard Core {Holiday} Crop??

Check it out HERE. All you need is some Core and stamps!!!! And the winner will get a pack of our Darks Collection pack. The rich tones of this cardstock is PERFECT for this time of year.

Designer April Derrick has a layout for us! Stampendous has the CUTEST and FUNNIEST sentiments for Holidays like this Tinsel one that April used.  And she always ROCKS the Ranger and we all know how great the Distress Inks and stains go well with kraft.

Products used:

Core: Tim Holtz Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection, Tim Holtz Kraft Core Seasonal Impressions, Core Tags
Stampendous Products: Boss Gloss, Shabby Pink Pastel Embossing Enamel, Glitter, Cling Poinsettia Background stamp, & Cling Tinsel Tangle Stamp
Queen & Co., Twinkle Goosebumps, Twinkle Motifs, Pearls

* Tinsel tip 1: I sanded over the embossed words just a little, and then I stained them with Ranger’s Distress Stain. I gently wiped the excess stain off with a paper towel and repeated the process once more to darken the color. As you can see from this layout, the Kraft-Core from the Nostaglia line and the Seasonal Impressions core’dinate perfectly!

* Tinsel tip 2: I used a damp paint brush to apply Beacon Fast Finish Decoupage to the Tim Holtz Kraft Core Seasonal Impressions cardstock and then I quickly dropped some fine snow white glitter from Stampendous all over it. It dries in no time flat and then you have super sparkly embossed cardstock!

And just one more close up for you to get all this goodness :)

Especially our Core Tags..they ROCK!
