A few years ago at CHA we did a make-n-take of these “core”sages for everyone that stopped by our booth. Seeing Clare Buswell’s tutorial on this made me think of how timeless Core’dinations really is! Colorcore cardstock is so versatile. I mean, how many other cardstocks can look this cool torn and distressed?????
Here’s the step-by-step photo tutorial for the torn edges spiral flower.:
Draw a 4 1/2″ circle (makes a 2 1/4″ finished sized flower) onto the reverse side of some Wisteria Core. Draw a rough spiral shape inside the circle, this doesn’t have to be perfect. Tear along the pencil lines using one of your finger nails as a guide while tearing. It doesn’t matter if you go a little bit outside the lines.
Turn over the spiral to the side with no pencil lines. Sand the torn edges with your Sand-It Gadget and wipe with your Dust Buddy. Starting from the outside, using a toothpick begin rolling the spiral flower towards the center. Once you’ve started off rolling you can remove the toothpick and roll the rest with your fingers.
Roll all the way to the center, keeping the spiral tight. Release the spiral and adjust until you’re happy with the shape. Add a generous amount of craft glue to the base of the flower and press in position. Hold for a few moments until set. Once completely dry use a needle nosed tweezers to curl the edges of the flower outwards, as shown. You can vary the size of the cardstock circle to make different sized flowers for your paper-crafting projects.
