The color palette for the Graphic 45 Couture Collection was a perfect match for photos I just took of my daughter and her tiny pet turtle. The aqua color was an obvious choice to match the photo background- but I knew I wanted to bring the green of the turtle in as well. I decided to create a “quilt” effect, and add in the green using Core’dinations cardstock. All the patterns of the Graphic 45, and the textures of the embossed cardstock mimic the look of a quilt, and machine stitching the squares together really brought the look together.

Arrange the pieces out on a 12×12 sheet of cardstock, centering around a 4×6 photo. Machine stitch the perimeter of each piece.

Step 2: Using an Electronic Cutting Machine create title using Core’dinations Chalk Core. Adhere to layout.

Step 3: Using an Electronic Cutting Machine cut turtle shapes from Mantis and Crab Grass cardstock. Assemble turtles on Smooth Ivory Tags. Add Baker’s twine. Add additional embellishments to tags as desired. Adhere tags to layout.

Get That Label Maker Out!

We are hitting it hard today with our Label Makers.

We just LOVE using it around here. It works perfectly with Core and if you aren’t sure how to use it, CLICK HERE for the video and some “how to” tips under “LABEL IT”.

For these next two layouts Design Team Member Lydia Jackson used her label maker. Check them out!

For this fun summery layout, Lydia also used some of the Core Tags and the background is Jillian Spotted Cardstock. We love these and are so great for any project. Lydia also used her Xyron for the waves. And make sure you look closely at the Title. Lydia used her Tim Holtz Ranger  inks to gently ink the white Paper Trunk alphas…doesn’t that look FABULOUS!  Great detail….

And next up is Design Team Member Leica Forrest. She created this beautiful layout about herself and used her Label Maker for ALL of her journaling. Love the Pink Paislee Core Impressions against the Chocolate Box.

We will post May Arts/Petaloo winner tomorrow!
