First up we have a gingerbread card from Designer Vivina Keh. Keep reading because this isn’t the gingerbread you were thinking of
Vivian Keh here today to share with you a card which uses a technique I came up with awhile back which I call the “Gingerbread” technique. Perhaps a Hard Core video tutorial is in store for you sharing this really easy technique! In conjunction with Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock that has been sanded, the patterns really pop off your papercrafted projects!
LOOK at that GORGEOUS Marvy Uchida punch!
“Sugar and Spice” from Pastels Collection
“Shabby Shutters” from Tim Holtz & Ranger Distress Collection
Maya Road – Canvas Tag
Aren’t you? But of course in a good way! Today we have some projects from Designer Vivian Keh. This first card is so cool! It takes paper tearing to an entirely new level. And Vivian mixes and matched all kinds of Core…some Spotted, Core Essentials and Vintage.
Hello, friends! Vivian Keh on the Core blog today with a happy card using cardstocks from a number of different Core’dinations collections. I’ve been having so much fun simply tearing our lovely color core cardstock for fast texture in papercrafted projects! I tore several strips of Core for the right side of my card and tucked a simple sleeve behind the torn pieces to house a cute die-cut tag which slides out. Just about all the elements were sanded because I am in love the distressed result and how beautifully sanding brings out Core edges and embossing.
And a cute close up of the pocket.

Every month we challenge our designers to try new things. It might be a collection pack, techniques…something different just to get those creative juices flowing. So for July, we challenged our designers to use the Brights Collection pack and to do some fussy cutting for some added interest. Cut those stamps…cut those embossed images…you name it the sky is the limit!
The Brights collection pack is the PERFECT color palette for all your summer layouts and projects! Don’t be afraid of those bright colors..embrace them!
First up we have a tutorial from Designer Kate Nolan-Denham on how she cut out some stamped images from her Brights Cardstock. This is a super easy way to create your own embellishments, don’t you think?
Stamp directly on the Core texture side. Looks awesome!
LOVE that thick outlined image you get from the stamping…
And since circles seem to be a theme for a lot of our team right now, we thought we would share a layout from Design Team Member Gail Linder using our Brights Collection pack for this very challenge as well! Here is a little bit about this layout from Gail:
Okay, well, Gail didn’t fussy cut her own details but you get the idea. We LOVE our Silhouette Cameo here at Core. There are so many amazing things you can do with it!
And one from Design Team Member Debbie Standard. Debbie anchored her Brights Collection with some Whitewash. And how about all that embossing and sanding! Fabulous…every detail is just amazing! Debbie combines multiple embossing folders form Darice, her Fiskars Paper crimper, outlining on the layout base, die cuts….you name it!
Stay tuned for tomorrow for some more fun in the sun layouts with our Brights Collection pack!
This is the last day of our week with SCOR PAL. Do you have one of these? Well, if you are a paper craft you better. AND if you love Core, then you BETTER! Scoring, then sanding with Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock is the only way to go. We hope that you have found some new and exciting ways use your Scor-Pal.
Scoring raises the cardstock so you can sand it and release that inner Core. It’s gorgeous AND both design teams are going to show you easy and fabulous ways the Scor Pal products and Core’dinations can add interested to your papercrafting projects.
Did you know we have a Scoring Video? Check out our Technique videos for some awesome ideas on what you can do with Core, including the scoring video.

Design Team Member April Derrick created this cool envelope for her layout to keep Core Tags with her journaling and some photos. Brilliant!

And Lydia Jackson uses the touch of Graphic45 Core Impressions along with top of this layout…
Check out the awesome details…Lydia used her Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folder on this layout and then inked over top of it for a really fabulous distressed feel. The sanded parts of the Core really pick up the inking. Lydia also used her Spellbinder’s Label Die and printed her journaling directly on it. LOVE the tone on tone…fabulous! OOOH and some May Arts Ribbon
