Today we have some really great layouts from Designer Mary Pat Siehl. She always creates really well-balanced layouts and mixes and matches her Core! For the first layout she creates balance bu using circles and her Silhouette. For the second layout….check out how she works those Core TAGS! You are going to love love it.
One of my favorite things about Core Cardstock is that it cuts beautifully in the Silhouette. For my layout I cut out the background using the white in the Nuetral collection. I then took my 1 inch punch and cut out 81 circles to fill the negative spaces. Core cardstock has so many colors to coordinate with your pattern paper so I punched 63 circles using the Core cardstock (some were embossed and I lighty sanded them and some I left with their solid color) and only 18 with pattern paper. I then matted my photo using my Core Cardstock that I scored and lightly sanded to frame the photo. Finally I scored the 12×12 sheet to frame the circle background.
Core Cardstock is really amazing because you can do so many things with it. I used the Core Essentials Snowflake cardstock and scored it to give it a slight frame. Next I misted it lightly just to add a hint of color. I then also stamped directly on it. The cardstock is awesome for all these “On Trend” techniques. I then made a banner with the different Core Tags. I just love the different sizes and here I embossed all the tags with different embossing folders and then lightly sanded them.
Not sure about you but wedding season is in full swing for us in the summer and today Designer Gail Linder has some gorgeous engagement cards for you today. Gail mixes and matches our cardstock brilliantly! Glitter Silk and Chocolate Box? Fabulous!
Here is a little bit about these gorgeous cards from Gail:
I’ve had a couple of family members announce engagements recently so I created a couple of cards to celebrate the good news! I started by choosing a gorgeous card from the Chocolate Box collection and cutting a couple of designs out from my Cameo. In the end I settled on the fun sunburst and polaroid and went from there!
For the blue card, I chose the background from the Gemstone collection as the gave it an elegant feel. I’ve embossed the background and adhered my sanded polaroid over the top with pop dots, adding some patterned paper and a red Gemstone card underneath the cut out pieces.
Similarly, behind the sanded sunburst (be careful sanding the fine frame) I used a pink Glittersilk card to add a bit of elegance. The leaves were die cut from Gemstone cardstock also and the project was completed with the fun pink flower!
I added the same greeting to both cards, stamped on a Core Bookmark which I then trimmed with the banner ends. The white bookmark card was so wonderful to stamp on!
So there you have two card designs, made into elegant engagement cards by using specialty cardstock but imagine the same designs in different colors for any occasion!
Looking for a really fun and handsome Father’s Day Card? The great thing about Core is that you can add ANY kind of texture to the cardstock with different embossing folders. Plaid, polka dots…sky is the limit! The different textures really make this card because they remind of the patterns of the shirt and tie, don’t you agree?
Keep on reading to see how Mary Pat Siehl created this awesome card….
Here is a little bit about this card from Mary Pat:
I cut the base of the card using my Silhouette. Then I used Core’dinations Tim Holtz and Ranger Distress Collections and cut it out to match the base of my card. The I ran the Faded Jeans cardstock in my embossing folder and lightly sanded to show the pattern. I cut my tie using the Scattered Straw cardstock then ran it through another embossing folder and lightly sanded that. Finally I stamped my sentiment and lightly inked the edges with the Tim Holtz faded Jeans distress ink. Don’t you just love how this awesome Tim Holtz collection matches the inks? I know I do!
