That day of sweet notes and sweet treats is around the corner and today I have a layout to share with you showcasing the Valentine’s paper of the Seasonal Impressions collection. I love selectively sanding the words that work with and support my layout. It’s almost like having a piece of patterned paper for a background.

So, so much to be Thankful for…

Like some amazing projects from Core’dinations, right?!??!   Whether it is just some simple sanding, embossing or distressing we have it for you today!  Suzanna Lee uses just a bit of distressing on this first layout. It is a great idea if you are just starting to use Core or if you just want a simple touch of the distressed look.

But first don’t forget we are cropping!!!!!!!!

CoreBlinkie_HCCropper_300pix

There is so much to point out on this layout but the one touch that strikes me the most is the ground covered fall foliage! Easy to create with a piece of Kraft Core that you wad into a ball and sand to create the nooks and cranny’s of the ground followed by layering of fallen leaves. Both the Marvy Uchida embossing punch and Lawn Fawn dies are perfect for such a task! The mica fragments, embossed wind swooshes and and touch of Imaginisce gold add the perfect complimentary touches!

Suzanna_SepMonthlyLOFall

Sanding those veins is just THE perfect touch!

Oh these leaves!

And another layout from Jennifer Edwardson. I don’t know about you but I am a sucker for puppy layouts!
I’ve been wanting to create a grid style layout for a while and really wanted the squares to be a great focus so when I snapped these cute pics of our daschund puppy I knew they’d be perfect for this layout.

I chose a piece of 12 x 12″ Snowflake Jillian Dot for the base and then cut (25) 2 1/2″ squares to create the focal point of my layout.  I used carstock from the Neutrals Collection and ran them thru my Big Shot using (3) different embossing folders.

I lightly sanded off the top and then laid them out evenly spaced onto my base.  Once I had them all adhered, I used a ruler and bloack journaling pen to draw the ‘stitching’ in between each row.

I adhered one fo the photos of Marshall flat and the other raised using 3D foam.  I used a large ‘ticket’ embosssing folder to create the ‘Admit One’ ticket and then precision cut it out of the cardstock.  I tucked it just under the edge of the flat photo with a piece of May Arts ribbon. Then I lightly twisted another piece of May Arts ribbon on an angle underneath the photos and added a couple stickers to it as well.

For the title I used a piece of Kraft-Core and cut ‘puppy’ using a font file on my Silhouette.  The ‘rotten’ type text stickers are Bella Blvd. High Five Alphas…..LOVE how this one of my ‘rotten puppy’ came together !!

We are excited to share Xyron projects with you all week long.

CoreHeaderSwap_xyron FB copy

And do not forget to head over to the Xyron blog for MORE inspiration AND a giveaway! I heard a rumour that it might be a sticker maker?!??!?!

Designer Shaunte Wadley is up first with some mixing and matching of Tim Holtz Kraft Core Season Impressions, Kraft-Core and Fancy Pants Core Impressions. And see that super cool strip of pumpkins? Shante used her 2.5 Sticker maker so keep scrolling to check out easy it is to adhere that with Xyron tools.

How is easy is that???

xyron2

It’s like magic…it’s sticky and NO MESS!

Here’s a close up of it finished with the die cut layers:

THEN after you sand with your Sand it Gadget, take your chalks and apply desired color for a really cool look! Not sure if you saw Friday’s post but Designer Kate Nolan Denham did that on her layout, too, but with some Black Magic..super cool!

xyron4

And next up is Designer Vivian Keh working the Black Magic!  Just love how she chose Black Magic for her Thanksgiving card. For some step by step photos check out her blog HERE.

For this card, I used cardstock from our fantastic “Black Magic” Collection.  Since I started playing with this stuff a month or so ago, I literally have not been able to stop crafting with it.  The results are always interesting and unique.  I sanded both my dry embossed background and my paper punched leaves, following that by applying a little pigment ink over the raised areas in a variety of autumn leaf tones.  I used the Xyron 1.5 in Create-A-Sticker machine to adhere the leaves – totally nuts about this tool because it is incredibly fast and convenient for adhering tiny pieces, like die-cut alphas or these leaves, to papercrafted projects.  No sticky, messy, glue-y fingers!  I used the Xyron Mega Runner to adhere the card front to a slightly larger card base – nice strong hold.

And how amazing is this detail and all this color!? Very same concept as Shaunte using chalks but you can use ink, too!

EEEEEK! I love Halloween so much I can’t stand it! So over the next few weeks we will be showcasing some Halloween projects for you. First up we have Ava Gavloski working her Core magic Halloween style ;)

AND Ava totally works the Core Cuts. She used one of the diecuts from the Core Cuts pack, folded it in half and made a card out of it! BRILLIANT!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tis the season of pumpkins and witches! This card was such a treat (no pun intended) to design. The Core’dinations Shazam Black Magic inner core, jumps from the Black magic collection. PERFECT for all you Halloween projects.
Take a close look at how crisp the sanded scrolls of  orange vibrantly pop from the matted black texture of the core’dinations cardstock.
Now add a card base from the bold core cuts collection and you have a striking card to share with family and friends during this Halloween season.
I have made a second page to complement the layout with a large pocket with tag’s, so that additional photo’s can be included.
I added a bit of coloured raffia and some Authentique pattern papers to bring out some color from the photo and all the elements showcase the happiness of the photo so well.
Vintage Cardstock and some The Crafter’s Workshop LOVE in here!
September 20, 2013 by
Today Ava Gavloski created an awesome tag that has a really masculine feel to it. I don’t know about you but I could really use more of these for those last minute gifts for the men in my life!
Here I used the Ahoy Matey stamps from Inspired by Stamping and paired this stamp set with the Core’dinations Vintage Collection.
You can really see how well the double sided Core’dinations Cardstock can stretch your options as a designer within the craft industry.  The blue and golden brown tones of this cardstock gives you the sand and sea effect co-ordinating well with the stamp set.
helmar aug tag
I used the Darice Birch embossing folder to give some weathered board texture and the tearing of the Core’dination cardstock gives the feel of waves rolling to shore.
I love that we have such a mix of styles on our team!   Designer Jill Lebbin really works the CAS look but don’t let that you fool you. There are some amazing details on this card. Jill used her Crafter’s Workshop stencil so keep reading on how she did it….
JillSeptNeutralsTCW
I heat embossed the balloon using my Darice heat tool. I laid down the TCW stencil and used Ferro from Viva with a putty knife on top and smoothed it over … a technique I learned from CHA!  The ferro is charcoal color and I got it from Hobby Lobby.  I wish computers would allow you to touch the card bc the ferro makes the card 3d almost because it dries hard.  It’s like a putty paste . It seriously is THE COOLEST stuff!!
