Do you do Mixed Media?  If you haven’t you must!  Design Team Member Lydia Jackson has been busy preparing the nursery in their house for their new addition and she created this mixed media canvas for it. Isn’t it cute?  The theme is around this beautiful quilt she made with the images of these ducks.

Lydia painted the goose and used Core’dinations to create the Umbrella and Imaginisce for the rain (Glam Rocks). Seriously…we LOVE our iRocks here are Core. The possibilities are just endless!

Here is a detailed shot of that fabulous Spotted Core’dinations! Available in small (Jillian) and large (Tillie) dots.

If you want to see more projects from Lydia around this theme, check out her blog here for a super cute layout with the duck.

We are excited! Are you?

First some housekeeping…you can post on our blog here all week long for a chance to win. We will put all of the comments in random. org and pick one random winner from blog posts. AND we will pick one lucky winner from our Facebook page, too!

AND…yes there is more! Imaginisce is giving away goodies on their blog, too! Of course there is loads inspiration over on their blog as well. PLEASE head over to their Facebook page as well. If you don’t like them, well you should! And if you already do…awesome! Tell them we said HI! Cannot wait to see how they work some Core!

Our team got to work with the iRock and the word is out, “WE LOVE IT”! No more brads getting stuck under your fingernails for sure.

First up we have a tutorial from Design Team Member Kim Jeffress.

Here is a little about this book from Kim in her own words,  ”I wanted to create a simple mini book to help my son with his number recognition and counting skills. The glam rocks that form the numbers provide a tactile as well as a visual way to learn, he can trace over each number with his finger to learn how to form each number. The black dots provide extra practise for him to count a collection for each number.”
Step 1 Gather a chipboard album, paper trimmer and Core cardstock. I have used a combination of BasicGrey Core Impresssions and Core Essentials.Take apart the chipboard album,  measure and cut the cardstock to the size of each album page and round the edges.
Step 2 Cover your chipboard pages with PVA glue then lay the cardstock on the pages. Allow them to dry for several hours. I placed some heavy books onto each page as they dried to allow for an even surface.
Step 3 Once the pages are dry, sand the embossed cardstock and the edge of the Essentials cardstock to reveal the Core underneath. This gives a fun element to the book.
Step 4 Take a sheet of kraft core in black and punch enough circles (using a small punch) to co ordinate with the number on each page.
Step 5 Using the foam squares from Imaginesce add one to the back of each black circle. This will provide a bit of depth on each page.
Step 6 Using a lead pencil very lightly write a number on each page 1-10
Step 7 Add the glam rocks along the pencil line, placing them fairly close to each other. Using an eraser carefully rub out the pencil lines. Print the written word for each number onto some white paper then adhere to the bottom of each page. Add the co ordinating amount of black circles to each page.
Step 8  Reassemble the album, add a piece of ribbon and you are done!
