Thanksgiving Turkey Place Cards

Thanksgiving is one of my very favorite times of the year! I love the fall season, and I love getting together with family to share a delicious meal. I love seeing the table all set up and ready for the meal as well. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved Place Cards. When I was young, my mom would make some fun little nut cup place cards. Today, I’m going to show you how to make these fun Thanksgiving Turkey Place Cards.

Step 1. Using the 1 1/2″ circle punch, punch out three circles of the Kraft Cardstock and three circles each of the Jillian Dot papers, use the Sand-It Gadget to a lightly distress the top of the dots.

Step 2. Fold the Jillian Dot papers into thirds, making the top slightly larger than the bottom. These are your feathers.

Step 3. Line up your feathers, put a small amount of adhesive on the bottom of the feathers.

Step 4.  Place your 1 1/2″ Kraft Cardstock circle over the top of them. Punch a 3/4″ circle out of Kraft Cardstock, use the pen to draw the face. Use adhesive to attach to the front of the turkey.

Step 5. Cut a small piece of styrofoam to fit the bottom of the bucket. Trim the skewer to be the height that you’d like it, and insert into styrofoam.

Step 6. Slide the Turkey onto the skewer. I just put the skewer into the little pocket that was created by folding the Jillian Dot circles. I used the middle “feather”. Write the name on the Mini Tag, and tie it around the skewer with some twine. Place in bucket, use a filler to fill bucket. I used these decorative balls. You could use shredded/crinkle paper, nuts, or candy.

Step 7. Now you are all ready to set your table! Everyone will be so excited to find their name!

Grab a friend or two and make up a bunch of these. They will be loved by all on Thanksgiving day.

Here are some Technique Tips for this layout from Design Team Member April Derrick: ICut up the photo corners and turned them into arrow embellishments for my page.Instead of placing a cd into the self adhesive CD photo pocket,  turn it into a holder for an interactive page embellishment. It’s a small booklet that you can slide in and out of the clear pocket and it has journaling and another photo on the inside!   Brilliant!
