So curious to see who is our winner from yesterday??????????

Tona says:

Omgosh! That is the most amazing layout!!! I just love the colors and all of that texture!

Today we have new Design Team Member…… Suzanna Lee!

Check out more about Suzanna and her projects on her blog HERE. Here is a little bit about her:

What can I say? I’m just a woman who is obsessed with her husband, her 2 kids, her camera (a Nikon!), living life to the fullest and preserving our memories as we go! Michael and I have been happily married for 14 years. Together we are raising two amazing children—Nikolas, 10, and Mia,almost 7.

I am very diverse when it comes to styles and techniques. I can’t claim any one as a main stay in my projects. I range from clean and simple to layered and packed with little details. The paper and photographs speak to me and I do what feels right. New styles, techniques, products, etc. are some of the major things that offer me inspiration. I am always excited to try new things and new opportunities, in life and with paper crafting.

When I’m not hiding behind my camera or cutting and creating both mess and beauty, I’m a physical therapist. I love what I do and love that it helps fund my hobby and collection! Who needs purses and shoes when you can have paper and embellishments?!

And how much do you loooooove the color combo of this layout??? I just love learning all these random bits about Suzanna.

And some close ups:

Ohhhhhh…embossing! :) Our 6×6 pads are a great way to add small deatils to layouts….they aren’t just for cards!

Now a little bit about Suzanna’s layout:

Every now and again, I try to do a page about myself. My kids love pouring through the albums and love seeing themselves but I know there will come a time when they will wish there was more of Mum and Dad. I know I love learning the little details of my parents’ lives. This layout served that purpose as well as sharing a little bit about myself with you. Random bits about Suzanna Lee. I literally wrote the first 5 thoughts that came to mind. I did say random! I also wanted to showcase how amazing core is! There is one piece of patterned paper on this page, the majority of the paper is Core of one type or another. All those different lines come together as a cohesive whole! Amazing!

Good Tuesday Morning!

First up we have our CardMaps winner…………….

What a great giveaway! I just found out about Cardmaps and would love to win this magazine!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And we have our Sketch Winner, too!  Kerrie Gurney come on down! We have a Core prize pack for you!
Donna & Kerrie..email ellen_sosnoski@coredinations.com with your name, address and phone number by March 15th to claim your prize.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So how about Tuesday’s tip? I created this layout about our yearly St Patty’s Day parade. We go every year and just love, love it. It’s in a small town near us and it is CrAzY! The boys love it…they love the  necklaces and the candy they get. I, of course, love the bagpipes.   For this layout I used some Core Cuts, Core Couture, Spotted, Brights, Stacy Julian Core Impressions and Whimsy Core Impressions from BasicGrey.

I know we have said this a gazillion times before but it is amazing how EASILY our collection packs Core’dinate!

So what is the tip?   I have a few for you today :)

1.) After distressing your edges, use a dark contrasting color to ink like I did here with black. I love the way it looks against the pink Core Couture cardstock.

2.) Use pre-embossed cardstock,  like our Core Impressions lines or Step two layers from David Tutera Celebrate, for your die cuts. It is so so easy! It is just one less step then embossing them yourself.

I used Lifestyle Crafts dies for this layout.

And my last tip is…..

3.) Use of the large tags from Step 3 David Tutera Celebrate cardmaking system for a journaling tag. One of our smaller tags wasn’t big enough for what I wanted to say so I reached for one of these. Plus the cardstock is smooth.

Please note the Stacy Julian Cardstock is no longer available as it has been discontinued. Stamps are Lawn Fawn, Ink by Memento, tickets are Maya Road and  misc buttons from my stash, Glue Arts adhesive.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT OUR DESIGN TEAM CALL HERE!!!!!!!! ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT TO ENTER!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Didn’t win this time? Don’t forget about about our $100 David Tutera giveway HERE!

Tim Holtz Shattered as is…

We have been talking about our BRAN NEW Tim Holtz KRaft-Core Shattered line a lot lately and today Designer Melissa Oliveira has a super sweet layout for you. And she uses the No. 1 for her background. Make sure you check out the detail shots so you can get the idea of how great this cardstock looks up close.

So, even though inking it and embossing it is a lot of fun, you can still use it as your go to cardstock for backgrounds in lieu of patterned paper.

Some products from our partners:  Lifestyle crafts: embossing folders (for banners beside photo) and doily die cut (to the left of photo),petaloo: paper flowers, Queen& Co: pearls and  Fiskars: paper crimper and border punches

Tuesday Tips

It has been a crazy few weeks so we are finally back on track with a Tuesday Tip!

And it’s all about Halloween!

Designer Shaunte Wadley created this gorgeous table topper for us today. Break out those die-cuts and let’s get busy! For this gorgeous piece, Shaunte used Lifestyle Crafts dies.  Check out their Halloween collection here. You will NOT be disappointed! Dies are a great way to cut Core and create your own gorgeous creations.

Core Essentials for the base and the tree.
Vintage Cardstock for the moon, and the bats and the pumpkin/leaves.
Glitter Silk for the purple on the base, and Core Couture for the witch Silhouette.

Faux Embossing Tutorial with Shaunte Wadley

Sorry we are a bit late with our post today but we have been busy!

I organized all of the address and prizes today so we are are good to go! Hard Core Prizes should ship within the next week so be on the look out for those.

And don’t forget about our Design Team Call for Cardmakers! You DO NOT want to miss this!!!

Core’dinations is so generous and our team is THE BEST. They create such cool projects like this one that Design Team Member Shaunte Wadley created for us today for our Tuesday Tutorial. If you love Tim Holtz KRaft Core than this is the one for you.

First up, run a die through your cutting machine. It doesn’t have to be a twelve inch die…this technique will work with any size die.  BUT we do have this FABULOUS 2.25″x12″ Sizzix/Tim Holtz Kraft Core that is the PERFECT size to do use your 12″ dies!

The key is using the same cardstock as the base as seen here.

Now sand. Make sure you use your Sand It Gadget!

See how they “match”. By sanding both the base and the die and then layering them, you are creating dimension.

Now adhere the layers and you can see how they look embossed!

Dies are from Lifestyle Crafts.

Today we have some cards from Design Team Members Lydia Jackson and Debbie Standard!

We cannot get enough of this little cutie! Lydia used some May Arts ribbon and a Lifestyle Crafts die to make that awesome border. The Cosmo Cricket Woodgrain cardstock looks great with the raccoon, too!

Debbie Standard this awesome card using some Gemstones (embossed beautifully for the background) and then Debbie stamped her footballs and then embossed them, too! That is our Tuesday Tip for you….you can still stamp AND emboss with your Core!

The key is to stamp FIRST, cut it out and THEN emboss the image. It makes this football much more realistic, don’t you think?

And, I have to say, that girls DO RULE!
