Bonus Saturday Post! Happy Turkey Day Cards

We have had so many great design ideas from our team this Thanksgiving that we have a bonus post for you this Saturday! Here’s a little bit about these projects from Tracy Gruber!

There is nothing like a good clean and simple card. First, stamp the leaves onto 3 different colors from the Core’dinations Darks Collection pack. Next, fussy cut them out, emboss them, sand them with the Sand It Gadget, and then attach them to the Core’dinations 110 lb. white card base. Use a Tombow 3D Foam Tabs to attach the yellow leaf. Finally, stamp the sentiment and attach a May Arts Natural twine bow.

Supplies:
-Coredinations Essentials – Darks
-Core’dinations 110 lb. White Card stock
-Dust Buddy
-Sand It Gadget
-The Alley Way Stamps “It’s Fall About You”
-Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
-Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
-May Arts Natural Twine
-Tombow 3D Foam Tabs

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love polka dots! I wanted to create a fall card with lots of polka dots and navy blue. First, punch some 1″ and 1 1/2″ circles from the Core’dinations Darks Collection pack using a Fiskars punch. Next, emboss, sand, and attach them to a white card front. The turkey is stamped on some Core’dinations 110 lb. white card stock (this is perfect for coloring with Copics!) and colored in with Copics. Finally, attach the turkey and the sentiment with Tombow 3D Foam Tabs.
-Copic Markers: R05, YR68, E25, Y15, B37
-Simon Says Stamp Speech Bubble dies
-Fiskars 1″ and 1 1/2″ circle punches
Don’t you think that sanding on the turkey just adds so much texture and dimension? SO CUTE!
Do you have a turkey for your traditional Thanksgiving meal? We have both turkey and ham! Since I didn’t have a ham image on my Cricut, I had to settle with the turkey cut from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge. First, cut it at 2 3/4″ and emboss the light brown pieces with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Then, sand them and the dark brown piece, since turkeys are not one perfect shade of brown ;) The “greenery” is Parsley Core’dinations card stock and the light blue “plate” is from the Core’dinations Essentials Pastels Pack. Next, use the gray card stock from the Core’dinations Essentials Neutrals pack and the orange piece from the Core’dinations Essentials Darks Pack. Finish the card by adding a May Arts Natural twine bow.
No I promised some Halloween goodies so here we go! First up Designer Vivian Keh with a cool card with some awesome Chalkboard technique!
Hello, Core fans!  Vivian Keh here to tell you I have been getting so much use out of my 6 x 6 pack of Black Magic!  Today I have a Halloween themed project that uses the Black Magic with lovely orange and green core, revealed with a nice dose of sanding.  In addition, there is a lot of stamping and fun embellishing with Liquid Pearls.
VivianKehHalloweenBlackMagic_A
How awesome is this detail?????
AND it wouldn’t be Halloween without MORE Black Magic cardstock, right!???!??!? NExt up a card from Designer Clare Buswell and a little bit about how she created it:
Make card from cardstock. Emboss Black Magic cardstock, sand using Sand-It Gadget and wipe with Dust Buddy. Ink edges using Milled Lavender Distress Ink, adhere to card. Add patterned paper (Authentique Thrilling Collection) panel, ink edges and round bottom corners. Add ribbon, bow and twine. Adhere Authentique Thrilling Collection stickers to cardstock, ink edges and fussy cut, attach to card using foam pads. Adhere flower, twine and bottle, to finish.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And let’s switch it up a bit with a layout from Designer Mary Pat Siehl:
I love playing around with Core’dinations cardstock.  First, I took my Black Magic cardstock and made a border by scoring my edges and lightly sanding it.  I then lightly sanded the black cardstock to give it a distressed look.  Then, I misted the cardstock with some white paint.  Next I took my Core Essentials orange cardstock and sanded it.  I then cut a large spider web using my Silhouette.  Next I cut a spider and attached him to the spider web.  I love how the Core cuts in my Silhouette!!! Finally I added my photo.  I love how the Core is the center of attention!

Tracy uses them to move your eye around  the page in addition to the pieces of patterned paper and Black Magic and Vintage Core’dinations.

And next up Clare Busewell with a deliciously, thrilling card! This pumpkin is too cute to spook don’t you think?

Draw simple pumpkin shape, trace onto card base (excluding stem) and cut out. Trace pumpkin sections onto Superstition, Antidote and Mystic 12×12 papers from Thrilling Collection by Authentique. Emboss Vintage Collection cardstock, sand with Sand-It Gadget, wipe with Dust Buddy and trace pumpkin section onto it. Cut out sections from patterned papers and cardstock, ink edges with Distress inks and paper-piece onto card base. Trace stem onto Tim Holtz and Ranger Distress Collection, sand edges and ink with Distress ink. Attach stem to top. And next up, a quick tutorial on how I created a fun candle and card set using the new Smooth Bookmarks(Bright), Black Magic, David Tutera Cardmaking cardbase and a Darice embossing folder. This witch feet embossing folder is AWESOME!  OH..and some Thrilling papers, of course!  Honestly, Whamy from the Black Magic Collection is the BEST cardstock  to have for Halloween. The Core is purple!!! Oh and how much fun are the Queen & Co Rox rhinestones on her boots?

candle and shoe card

Cut the little nub off:

004

Then cut it in half. The to trick in making it look like it goes around the front is  cutting it in half and sticking each end under the journal spot on the front.  Don’t forget to emboss! Even though they are smooth you can still emboss them.

006

And the back…you may be wondering why it doesn’t go all the way around but I wanted it that way since I punched the papers and used pints where they meet.  And I am not sure if you can tell but one side of the tag is embossed and the other is debossed . The twine is May Arts, of course!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I think is is the beautiful rich colors that are all around!  Core and Authentique are such a great pairing becuse of the beautful textures and colors that both companies have.  For today I made a fall layout with the new collection from Authentique and I paired it up with some Core Amour and Core Impressions Jillibean Soup.  The colors really mixed well and the texture it provided just made the layout!
