Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s post introducing our BRAND NEW Card Design Team!!! We cannot wait to get started with these fabulous ladies!

Tuesdays are all about tips and tutorials…today we have TWO tips for you.

Today we have a layout from Design Team Member April Derrick.  Her tip is to break out those stamps and use them for something different than what you normally would..for example:  She used her Sweet Stamp Shop stamps called Pretty Packaging on her layout! How fun?  You would think that these stamps would be for presents and little gifts.  How fun is this layout?!?!?  And she added some Petaloo dyed to match flowers….no need to worry about matching them. We did if for you ;)

April used a Crafter’s Workshop Filmstrip Template and sanded it to create her background. How cool!! Another fabulous way to work that Core.

Happy Labor Day!

If you are in the states than today is a Holiday so a lot of people are off of work and school so please be safe at all those picnics and bbqs! It is kind of an “end of the summer” celebration around here so have a wonderful day everyone!

I don’t know what I was thinking but last week I missed this layout from Design Team Member  Lydia Jackson. Lydia just welcome this precious little sweetie into her family a few short weeks ago.

Isn’t this the sweetest layout?  She used Petaloo flowers (remember they are dyed to match Core!) and some Sweet Stamp Shop stamps. LOVE how she incorporated the RAK stamps that you would think would be for little gifts on to a layout.

And of course…CORE TAGS! We are all obsessed with them here..we love our tags. The come in a variety of shape and sizes and a sturdy metal grommet. Lydia used one small piece of patterned paper and then core’dinated her Core Cardstock to match it.

We will post winners of the blog hop tomorrow!

Petaloo and Sweet Stamp Shop!

We have a fun week for you this week! We have teamed up with Petaloo and Sweet Stamp shop for some FUN! If you love flowers make sure you buy Petaloo flowers that core’dinate with our cardstock PERFECTLY!  No worrying about matching them yourself, we did that for you.

Don’t forget to head over to Petaloo blog and the Sweet Stamp Shop blog to check things out. I heard some rumors there are goodies up for grabs over there, too! (Keep  in mind SSS is PST time so they be up a bit later).

We will be giving away some goodies here on the blog for commenting ALL WEEK long (make sure to comment on every post here for more chances to win).

Today is our first day of school in Pennsylvania…we got a bit of a late start here due to some construction but it is always a fun day…alarms…a bit of scrambling….what to wear…pictures…pencils…

AND head over to our Facebook page, too! Leave a comment over there about what the first day of school is like in your house!  I know it is a crazy day here!!! And if you don’t have kids in school then share a found memory you have about your first day of school.  We want to here it…we are gearing up for 8000 likes over there and can’t wait!

We hope you had fun this week. We sure did! We will post our winners next Monday or Tuesday. You can still comment today and all weekend long…

Today we have some cards for you!

Design Team Member Melissa Oliveira created this FUN window card. Is it ever possible to have too much woodgrain?  I didn’t think so. She used the Sizzix Tim Holtz woodgrain folder for the embossing and then the woodgrain Sweet Stamp Shop  stamped on the inside of the card.

And close up of the flowers. Melissa used a Spellbinder’s Label die to create the window.

And the inside:

And Design Team Member Debbie Standard created this cute card! She used the back of her cardstock for the bus and all that fun embossing and sanding is just perfect! Don’t forget to run that “grass” through your Fiskars Paper crimper for that perfect look…add a Petaloo flower and you have a perfect Back To School card!

DAY ONE!

Please note we updated this post with some directions for you on how to make this cute little project!

And if you don’t have kids in school then share a found memory you have about your first day of school.  We want to here it…we are gearing up for 8000 likes over there and can’t wait!

Today Design Team Member Char Dobson created this desktop calendar that is perfect for any teacher gift. Char used Cardinal cardstock that matches the Petaloo flowers and the Sweet Stamp Shop Against the Grain stamp set.  Don’t be afraid to stamp on that colored cardstock!!! Everyone needs a large woodgrain stamp, don’t you think?

Here are a few more shots for you…See how Char added a little Graphic 45 Signature Series Cardstock along the bottom?

See you tomorrow!

Want to make this for yourself?  Here’s the basic instructions for the calendar – if you have ever made an easel card; it is the same idea.

Cut a piece of Core’dinations cardstock 6″ x 12″ and fold in half. Then fold one end towards the center. This is the easel base. Cut a Core’dinations cardstock mat at 6″ x 4″ and a decorative piece for stamping or embossing at 5 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. Embellish as desired. Adhere mat to the long piece of cardstock that was folded in so that the bottoms line up (refer to first photo in the blog post if you’re not sure about this). The tiny piece I have under the sticky note pad is 6″ x 1″, and I got the printable calendar pages here:http://www.asensoft.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/two-months-blank-calendar-template-723×1024.jpg

Don’t forget…only ONE MORE WEEK

Okay one more week and a day ;)
Calling all Cardmakers … Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock is looking for Card Designers!
Please Note…we edited with some answers to your questions.
We are looking for talented and dedicated cardmakers that can not only create cards but other projects that can show the creative use of pre-made card bases (like our Core Cards that are pre-cut and scor’d. Think about it like this: if we sent you a pack of our Core Cards what would you do with them? ), die cuts, and embellishments. We are looking for cards that use all kinds of die cuts…tags, labels, scalloped pieces, hearts, stars etc. Any design, whether you cut it with your own machine or if it is pre-made is fine (so don’t worry if you do not have a die cutting machine you will not need one if chose as part of the team).
- Step One: Design and then post three projects in one posting on your personal blog on or before Friday August 10th at 12:00pm EST titled “Core Cards Creative Frenzy” Keep in mind we are looking for paper crafters that specialize in cardmaking and that can showcase pre-made card bases and die cuts with cards and other unique projects.  Feel free to include step out photos or step-by-step instructions of any techniques that you used that you feel need highlighting as we are looking for our designers to be able to create tutorials in PDF format on occasion.
- Step Two: Send us an email with a link to this exact blog posting to  coredt@coredinations.com. Please ensure the link is to “Core Cards Creative Frenzy” posting and not just a link to your blog. It makes it much easier to find, especially if you post frequently on your blog. Please include in your email your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. Also include a resume of your publications and current design team obligations (if applicable).
- We are also looking for designers that are comfortable creating how-to videos and tutorials as well so please let is us know if this interests you (camera and compensation will be provided).
- If you have any questions about the application process and/or design team requirements, be sure to post them on the Core’dinations’ Facebook page  or on this post as they may be questions that several applicants would like answered or email Ellen at ellen_sosnoski@coredinations.com. New projects or the use of Core’dinations Cardstock is not required but if you have some Core’dinations and would like to create something brand new we would love to see it!
Requirements will be comparable to other papercrafting companies  and  Core’dinations will compensate with ample  product as well as monetary compensation for special projects.  Ideally we are looking for designers that have blogs to help with promotional activities (only on occasion) but this is not a requirement so please feel free to send us a link to an online gallery, flickr account, etc.
And, yes of course! International Applicants are welcome!
So why not share a card today in the spirit of cardmaking?!
Design Team member Shaunte Wadley made this gorgeous card using Core’dinations Whitewash and some Petaloo flowers that are dyed to match our papers perfectly!

Today we have a special treat for you from Design Team Member Andrea Amu. THIS is how you work Black Magic Cardstock. Just sayin’ ;)

And some close-ups. Add some Petaloo flowers and May Arts ribbon and you have a gorgeous project. Andrea also used a piece  of Tillie Spotted Core’dinations behind the frame.  For the floss-like fibers used in the button ties, Andrea pulled apart the May Arts cording… discarded the white fiber-fill from the inside and just used the flossy threads. COOL!

And one more…

Now, did you notice the title of this post?  I said “TREE” instead of THREE…and you will see why.

First up we have just the coolest card ever from Design Team Member Shaunte Wadley. I mean….a ribbon tree???  Yes! It’s ribbon, flower and cardstock (Core Essentials to be specific ;) ) heaven here! That is all you need to create gorgeous projects.

And speaking of cool trees…..

Design Team Member Lydia Jackson made a tree out of flowers. How cool is that!?  Looks awesome…such a great way to  use up those flowers in your stash. And Lydia used ribbon, patterned paper and cardstock (Core’dinations Spotted Tillie Collection) on this layout seemlessly.

Here is a close-up of that tree….LOVE the star out of some Core Whitewash that Lydia sanded.

And here we have a layout from Design Team Member April Derrick. How awesome is that sanded Tim Holtz Kraft-Core????

From the ribbon banners to the flowers off the page…such a festive and FUN layout!

Today is all about Halloween!!!

We have some awesome layouts from our team that celebrate this fun holiday.

Nothing screams Halloween like Goth. Design Team Member April Derrick used some Core’dinations Spotted Tillie Cardstock on this layout along with loads of purple and black ribbon from May Arts and flowers from Petaloo. From the purple ink splats to the ruffled May Arts Satin ribbon….this is one great layout. And that May Arts metallic velvet ribbon adds the perfect sparkle.

Design Team Member Shaunte Wadley designed this layout using Black Magic as her base. Check out all the amazing details!!! Banners, tags, flowers ribbon, tons of sanding :) :):)  It’s gorgeous!  The May Arts Satin Striped ribbon on orange, black and purple that Shaunte used for the photo banner is PERFECT for Halloween. Pair it with some flowers at the end and you have a perfect banner.
