It is hard to believe that almost 20 days of 2012 have gone by already!

Today Design Team Member Lydia Jackson is sharing some of her favorite projects from 2011.

Before we do some inspiration…we have an update for you:

From now until Christmas Eve we are showcasing our Design Team’s Favorite cardstock. Each designer picked a few of their favorite lines and created some gorgeous projects for you showcasing why they love it so much.

Now, today is all about Whitewash. {SIGH} This is one of my favorite lines {though I do say that about all of them so I am not sure if that is a great reference} Design Team Member April Derrick. April really does an amazing job on this layout showcasing how beautiful Whitewash is. It is gorgeous on it’s own or layered with other sheets like April did here. She really sanded those leaves so that pop right off the page.

How much do you love this wing detail? The embossing folder is a Sizzix Tim Holtz folder in the2 7/8″ x 4 1/2″ x 1/8″ size. LOVE this size for small detail.

Today is all about Tim Holtz Adirondack Cardstock!

Design Team Member Melissa Oliveira worked up some amazing layouts for us today.

And how fun is this? Melissa added a few of her favorite things to this layout, too! If you are familiar with Melissa’s work you will see one of these techniques on almost every layout of hers.

1. ) Sand the area where want to journal (in this case, using the date stamp) so it “pops” off the page.

2.) Loosely and unevenly sanding around the edges of the page to create a distressed/weathered border.

3.) Grey!!! We love grey! And Melissa is obsessed with it.

And Melissa created some double page layouts for us, too!

The great thing about Tim Holtz Adirondack collection is that you don’t have to do grunge and major distressing. It is full of bright colors that are perfect for any project!!!

Tuesday Tutorial: Make your own Chevron Print

Here is my tag I created using some Chocolate Box cardstock.

Here is how I did it. Please note: I recreated this on a larger scale so it was easier to take photos and see the grid. I would recommend starting small like I did with a tag. A 12×12 sheet of cardstock is really hard to line up on your scoring too for THIS project because you are twisting and turning it. So you want to practice first and start on a smaller scale.

Note: Not familiar with Scoring? Check out the Learn Tab on our website for our awesome How To videos including Scoring.

First, start making a grid on the BACK of your Core’dinations Cardstock. Remember that when you are scoring with Core, you want to work from the back so the raised image is on the front to sand.

Now you want to connect the grid to make the Chevron pattern. I did mine freehand, you can definitely use your ruler but this is only a guideline for scoring. You definitely want to use the ruler for the grid.

Now you can adjust the sizes of your pattern if you would like. The larger the pattern the easier. As you can see, it may take you some sketching to get the look you are looking for but we are working from the back so that doesn’t matter!
