Tuesday Tip–Chalkboard layouts!

Chalkboard is all the rage these days and did you know that Black Magic is perfect for it? For this layout, Designer Leica Forrest used a few diffferent kind of Black Magic with a blue and pink core. This layout was in our booth at CHA and everyone LOVED it. The texture is just amazing!
Tip 1.) Make it look like it’s really chalk by using the Outlining technique. New to outlining? All you do is take some removable adhesive and put your chipboard letters on your kraft mat and then sand over. You can check out the Technique Video HERE. Leica used this technqiue for the “Family” title.
Tip 2.) Sand punched pieces and layer them on your layout base it looks like it is chalk. See that scalloped piece above the Family tile? Leica punched first, sanded and then adhered it. It looks just like a colored piece of chalkboard! She used the same technique for the banner along the bottom of the photo.
Tip 3.) Use your white gel pen or marker on the Black Magic just as you would with any other cardstock. Highlight the title…add some journaling….doodle…whatever you want! Looks awesome, don’t you think?

Hi! Ellen here with my take on Lydia’s sketch. Not much time so hurry up and LINK YOURS HERE or share it on our Facebook page!
My Tuesday Tip is all about scraps so keep reading
And in case you missed it…here is the sketch from Designer Lydia Jackson:
Here are some close ups …the first one is of the BasicGrey Core Impressions and some of the scoring with my Score-Pal:
Next up the butterflies…I like to mix up the embossing folders with the dies. Folders are a mix of STampin’ Up! And Darice. Embellies are a mix of Studio Calico and October Afternoon.
AND ..last but not least…
My Tuesday Tip is to use those scraps. Now, if you are like me you need to do this right away or I end up putting them on a pile in my desk. So if I don’t use them on a card or another project immediately then I probably won’t.
So here is my card with my left over butterflies. The base is Pink Paislee Modern Prints Core Impressions and the envelope is from Maya Road. All Adhesives are from 3L and burlap string is from May Arts.
