Since February is the month of LOVE…we thought, why not share of love of sketches with everyone?!?!?!
A HUGE thank you to designer Lydia Jackson for creating this sketch for us. It’s got everything you need to create a gorgeous layout, don’t you agree?
Now let’s see Lydia’s layout. Don’t you love the tone on tone sanding for the journaling block? And the label journal strips are such an easy way to ensure you get those memories on the page, too. For tips on how to create those check out the video here. And accenting the hearts along the bottom with one embossed, sanded heart is the perfect accent. SO many possibilities with this sketch.
Now…it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t give something away now would it???
We would LOVE to give one person a Core prize pack for completing this challenge. Link your layout or card back to THIS post or Share it on our FACEBOOK page by February 28th, 2013. It must be visible that you used the sketch as inspiration. You must use Core’dinations Cardstock on the project and at least ONE Core technique. For some inspiration, HERE is a list to our technique videos. You know we LOVE anything that shows off the cool Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock!
Are you ready???

Loving all the Spotted and Core Essentials cardstock PLUS..some May Arts ribbon and Imaginisce iRock, too!
And how about some ch-ch-ch-chevron?! The Core Impressions Pink Paislee Modern Prints collection has tons of great chevron prints. Swooooon! Did you know that we are offering the BRAND NEW Tim Holtz Shattered collection in 6×6? Oh yeah!
Here is a layout from Design Team Member Debbie Standard. Check out how she scored the frame around the outside of the layout and then sanded it. We love our ScorPals! Same GREAT Kraft Core!

And, since we are in the purple mood today….how about another layout from Design Team Member April Derrick. For this layout April paired her Shattered Cardstock with some Tim Holtz Kraft-Core. These two lines were designed in the exact same color scheme (No. 1, No.2, etc) so they core’dinate perfectly!
AND our Tim Holtz Kraft-Core is available in 6×6 now, too!!!!

April used a stencil from The Crafters Workshop to sand the base piece of Kraft Core. Just put your Core on top of it and sand and you get a really cool design!

Core’dinations is celebrating FIVE years today! It’s hard to believe it but it’s true. And as a celebration the entire Core team…our designers, teachers and employees put together an album for our fearless leader, Anthony.
It was so much fun seeing it all come together. Here are a few shots of Anthony looking through the book. And a few shots of the pages from our team.

And another postage stamp layer from the David Tutera line. Told ya we liked ‘em!
On this layout, Designer April Derrick used her Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Chipped Saphire by Ranger and inked the Shattered cardstock. See how the stain just soaks up in the cracks and turned blue??!?!?!? HOW COOL IS THAT??? And she embossed some of it too (the layer under the photo). So many possibilities!

So sit back, relax, and get ready to be inspired. Our Design Teams have worked hard for you! If you were here yesterday than you saw some gorgeous layouts from Design Team Member Shaunte Wadley.

Head over there and check out all the gorgeous projects their team has been cooking up this week. You won’t be disappointed.
And are you ready for our FIRST giveaway? Get commenting on THIS post to win a Core Prize pack including some of this silky smooth cuts like butter Glitter Silk cardstock….
Tuesday’s Tip comes from Design Team Member Lydia Jackson. Lydia pretty much created an entire baby album with Bella and Core. What is so great about this is that it EASY! You have all of your coordinating Bella Blvd embellishments, papers, and alphas AND now you know that our Core Cardstock matches PERFECTLY! I don’t know about you, but having all of that at my fingertips makes creating a unified (and super cute) baby album EASY! Not to mention I have always LOVED Bella Blvd chipboard shapes and pieces.
Let’s check out what Lydia did…she created her own patchwork background with different pieces of Core Essentials and different embossed patterns. Don’t forget to print right on that Core! Gosh this baby boy line is SO CUTE.
And another layout for this super cute baby boy album…Lydia used some Fancy Pants Core Impressions along with some Core Essentials and Core Tags. LOVE that piece of tape right over the photo.

And next up we have a Tuesday Tutorial for you from Design Team Member Andrea Amu using the very cool Designer Tape from Bella Blvd that we have all fallen deeply and passionately in love with here at Core. She cut it on her Cricut…SO COOL! Here is a little bit about this project in her own words, “I added a strip of the yellow chevron designer tape from Bella Blvd to a scrap of yellow Brights Core Essentials and I used my Cricut to diecut 1/2″ alphas (Lyrical Letters Cricut cart – Jack Sprat font). I also folded some of the paper tape into tabs and used them on the neck of the giraffe diecut which was cut from some yellow WhiteWash Core. I embossed the giraffe (Cricut New Arrival cart – cut at 6″) with a Sizzix animal print folder, sanded the spots and went in and added some extra brown tones with a Ranger ink pad and the Ranger blending tool.”
LOVE it! What do you think?
The blending looks so great on the giraffe. By embossing, then sanding and then adding the ink really makes it look realistic and adds another layer of depth. But remember…emboss, sand and THEN ink.
