Motorcycle Card for Dad

Hi Core Fans!  It’s Joann here with you today.  With Father’s Day fast approaching I wanted to create a Father’s Day card for the motorcycle enthusiast or biker in your life!

Joann-Larkin-Morotcycle-Card-e1430314425458Motorcycle Card Supplies:

To make this project follow these steps:

Step 1.  Start by cutting the pieces for the Motorcycle using the Core Essentials Darks, Neutrals and Metallic Silver for the chrome.  Next using a piece of Dark Grey from the Neutrals collection, emboss for a background that will be featured behind the Motorcycle.

Step 2.  Sand your paper and for a different look, tear by hand, around the embossing.

Tip: Don’t forget to use your dust buddy to cleanup after your sanding.   This will not only make things cleaner and easier to work with but your adhesive will also stick better!

Step 3.  Finish by cutting a card out of Black cardstock, distress the edges and attach your embossed panel and the motorcycle.  Finish by adding a sentiment and decorate as desired.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek… Have a wonderful day my crafty friends!

3D Paper Birthday Mug Box

Hi Core Fans!  It’s Joann and I am happy to be here with you today to show you a cool gift box you can create using your Core Cardstock and fabulous Core Pattern paper.  This is a fun little gift that you can create for that beverage lover in your life :)  I made this for my son’s 24th Birthday and included some gift cards inside.

Joann-Larkin-3D-Beer-Mug-e1430313001535and as a bonus the top open up to double as a box!

3D Paper Mug Supplies:

To make this project follow these steps.

Step 1.  Start by cutting the pieces for your Beer Mug out of Core Essentials Neutrals and the decorative panels out of Core Basics – Patterns Brown Plaid and Core Basics – Patterns Brown Houndstooth.  Finally the White foam is cut from Core Polka Dot Pops White Pearl with White Polka Dpt Pops.

Tip: When making 3D projects I find it best to use a heavy weight cardstock.  Core Essentials Cardstock, both the single sheets as well as the packaged booklets, are absolutely perfect in weight.  They not only stand up well but also allow you to have a nicely defined scor line.  You want that nice sharp edge to show off your beautiful work!!

Step 2.  Scor on the scor lines and fold all of the pieces making sure to use your bone folder for a nice sharp line.  Once you have all your scor lines done it will be easier to attach the decorative panels first and then assemble the mug.

Step 3.  Finish by assembling the top of the mug and add a sentiment.  For this project I used the Spellbinders Birthday Cake die.  For detailed assembly of the Beer mug, the creator of the cut file has a good tutorial here so be sure to check it out.

Graduate Gifts and Centerpiece

So I was going through some blog posts looking for something and found this project from Ava Gavloski that never posted! This is such a gorgeous idea for that special graduate in your life! I have a freind going to a graduation party this week so hoping we aren’t too late for you.

Here’s what Ava has to say about creating this awesome project:

Are you getting ready for that Graduation Party? Plan ahead and check out your Core’dinations Cardstock to see if you have some color tones that will match the school colors.  Try  the de-embossed look to your front card panel, sanding lightly give the card a vintage feel.  To stamp a clear image on the glitter paper, ink your stamp, lay your stamp face up and then lay your paper onto the stamp and gentle rub your glitter cardstock over the inked stamp image.  This technique should give you a clear impression of your image on the glitter cardstock.  This card design allows you to use up small bits and pieces from your core stash with the baner and star embellishments.

Dust off that crimper,  find some embossing folders that speak to you and get creative with a few layers of your favorite Core’dinations cardstock.  Layers are the secret to volume and a feel good texture.  So,  join me and make that gift bag with layers of Core cardstock that will be a wow the gift presentation.

Here are some detail shots on the gift bag:

And the fun centerpiece! Love how that Core Couture shines!

Happy Monday!

Can you believe we are in August already?!

For a lot of us, it is Summer and it’s winding down quickly!

Today we have some fun, summery layouts from Design Team Member Debbie Standard featuring some BasicGrey Core Impressions (green) and some Vintage Cardstock for the background.

Debbie used some more BasicGrey Core Impressions on this layout in addtion to some Fancy Pants Core Impressions.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match your Core Impressions for some great contrasting prints.  It’s just like patterned paper! Add some bits and pieces of Jillibean Soup, Bella Blvd, May Arts Ribbon, Spellbinder’s Dies and you have a fun, summer layout.

Oh and there is that Cloud Embossing folder from Darice! We are loving that one ;)
