We have had so many great design ideas from our team this Thanksgiving that we have a bonus post for you this Saturday! Here’s a little bit about these projects from Tracy Gruber!

There is nothing like a good clean and simple card. First, stamp the leaves onto 3 different colors from the Core’dinations Darks Collection pack. Next, fussy cut them out, emboss them, sand them with the Sand It Gadget, and then attach them to the Core’dinations 110 lb. white card base. Use a Tombow 3D Foam Tabs to attach the yellow leaf. Finally, stamp the sentiment and attach a May Arts Natural twine bow.

Supplies:
-Coredinations Essentials – Darks
-Core’dinations 110 lb. White Card stock
-Dust Buddy
-Sand It Gadget
-The Alley Way Stamps “It’s Fall About You”
-Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
-Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
-May Arts Natural Twine
-Tombow 3D Foam Tabs

I love polka dots! I wanted to create a fall card with lots of polka dots and navy blue. First, punch some 1″ and 1 1/2″ circles from the Core’dinations Darks Collection pack using a Fiskars punch. Next, emboss, sand, and attach them to a white card front. The turkey is stamped on some Core’dinations 110 lb. white card stock (this is perfect for coloring with Copics!) and colored in with Copics. Finally, attach the turkey and the sentiment with Tombow 3D Foam Tabs.

-Copic Markers: R05, YR68, E25, Y15, B37

Don’t you think that sanding on the turkey just adds so much texture and dimension? SO CUTE!

Do you have a turkey for your traditional Thanksgiving meal? We have both turkey and ham! Since I didn’t have a ham image on my Cricut, I had to settle with the turkey cut from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge. First, cut it at 2 3/4″ and emboss the light brown pieces with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Then, sand them and the dark brown piece, since turkeys are not one perfect shade of brown ;) The “greenery” is Parsley Core’dinations card stock and the light blue “plate” is from the Core’dinations Essentials Pastels Pack. Next, use the gray card stock from the Core’dinations Essentials Neutrals pack and the orange piece from the Core’dinations Essentials Darks Pack. Finish the card by adding a May Arts Natural twine bow.

Please make sure you head over to the Lawn Fawn blog for more inspiration AND their Facebook page.  Their Design Team is incredible and you don’t want to miss anything.

First up we have Designer Tracy Gruber with a super cute card:

I love my Lawn Fawn stamps, so I was very excited to pair them with Core!  I started with the Whitewash paper and embossed it with the Swirls embossing folder.  I sanded the de-embossed side, so more of the blue color showed.  I then stamped the tree from the Critters in the Forest set twice and kept one piece whole and the other one I cut each other the “sections” apart.  I then attached each of the pieces to the whole tree and popped up the bottom with Tombow Foam Tabs to give it dimension.  I used the green Core Vintage paper and tore it to create the grass for my scene.

And one last card today from Designer Kim Moreno!
I embossed the base of my card and sanded the dots slightly to reveal the color core of the cardstock, round the bottom edges of the card. I then used the long leafy stamp from the Lawn Fawn blissful botanicals set and stamped several rows in different colors and then punched them into circles and then punched again smaller circles within the larger circles. I then adhered them all to the yellow cardstock and adhered it to the center of the card. I stamped “thanks” several times on a white strip of cardstock and adhered below to finish my card.
Thanks kim m

We are here all week long with Lawn Fawn! Our team loves loves loves loves their stamps so much. From cards to layouts, we have it for you! Please make sure you head over to their blog for more inspiration AND their Facebook page.  Their Design Team is incredible and you don’t want to miss anything.

Can you say…paper airplanes?  EEEEEK! This Flying By stamp set IS JUST TOOOOOO CUTE!  Emboss your Whitewash cardtock with a Darice cloud embossing folder and punch some peep holes with a circle punch in your layout…it really allows those planes to pop off the page and really look like they are flying.  Don’t forget to use the Flying By die cuts…makes life so easy! Shaunte always adds the sweetest details like stamping on the  Core Couture for the sentiment and the heart in the twine.  Just because it has a different finish doesn’t mean you can’ stamp on it. ;)

LAWN FAWNcard1SHAUNTE

And don’t be afraid to get out those stamps and use them on your Layouts.  Shaunte

Shaunte mixed and matched a bunch of Core on here with her Lawn Fawn Bon Voyage stamps. She sanded the Tim Holtz Kraft Core No.  3, My Mind’s Eye Core Impressions on top of that and then embellished her way to a fabulous layout!

LAWNFAWNlayoutSHAUNTE

Shaunte stamped directly on her Vintage cardstock (airplane) and Whitewash Cardstock (cloud). This is a great idea in case you don’t have copics or markers to color your own stamped images.

Guess what we have up for grabs for you this week?????

Summer Challenge: Brights Collection Pack

July 29, 2013 by
Filed under Core Blog, May Arts Ribbon, Provocraft

Every month we challenge our designers to try new things. It might be a collection pack, techniques…something different just to get those creative juices flowing.  So for July, we challenged our designers to use the Brights Collection pack and to do some fussy cutting for some added interest. Cut those stamps…cut those embossed images…you name it the sky is the limit!

 The Brights collection pack is the PERFECT color palette for all your summer layouts and projects! Don’t be afraid of those bright colors..embrace them!

GX3000-04_LR

First up we have a tutorial from Designer Kate Nolan-Denham on how she cut out some stamped images from her Brights Cardstock. This is a super easy way to create your own embellishments, don’t you think?

KateChallengeJuly

Stamp directly on the Core texture side. Looks awesome!

KateChallengeJuly2

LOVE that thick outlined image you get from the stamping…

KateChallengeJuly3

And since circles seem to be a theme for a lot of our team right now, we thought we would share a layout from Design Team Member Gail Linder using our Brights Collection pack for this very challenge as well! Here is a little bit about this layout from Gail:

I think that bright, fun photos call for bright colors! I couldn’t go past an awesome YELLOW background for this layout!
Gail-Splash-Layout-1

To create an interesting background, I cut a heap of “bubbles” out of the same color cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo. I arranged them over the background and once I was happy with where they were, I gave each bubble a slight sand before adhering them. I just love the tone-on-tone look my background has now! And by sanding the edges of each shape, it makes them stand out just a little bit more!

Gail-Splash-Layout-2
I also used my Cameo to cut out the title and finally I added a cute banner up the top, adding a bit more color! You can see that I embossed and sanded each piece and I just love the look of the different textures all together.
Gail-Splash-Layout-3

I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out some Core and create your own background just like this!
Supply List:
Core Brights – Tulip, Heartfelt
Core Neutrals – Chocolate Mocha

Graphic 45 Signature Series – Precious Pink
Tim Holtz Distress Core – Spiced Marmalade

Okay, well, Gail didn’t fussy cut her own details but you get the idea. We LOVE our Silhouette Cameo here at Core. There are so many amazing things you can do with it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And one from Design Team Member Debbie Standard. Debbie anchored her Brights Collection with some Whitewash. And how about all that embossing and sanding! Fabulous…every detail is just amazing!  Debbie combines multiple embossing folders form Darice, her Fiskars Paper crimper,  outlining on the layout base, die cuts….you name it!
