Hello Core’dinations fans!  Vivian here today to share with you an elegant floral card using a muted palette of Core’dinations Cardstock.  I used a warm beige from the Core’dinations Jenni Bowlin “Everyday” Collection for my card base, sanding the decorative leaf pattern already conveniently pre-embossed in this cardstock.  I layered an elegant grey from the Neutral Collection that I had embossed with a great Sizzix embossing folder.  For the blossom, I die-cut and sanded the pieces for nice shabby appeal, piercing with a simple brad to hold the bloom together.  To finish, I added a bit of distress ink on all pieces, some bling and pretty seam binding.

Need a wedding card?  Look no further!

I love the aqua/ chocolate brown color pairing in just about everything, from papercrafts to home decor – both fresh and comforting.  For today’s project, I used Core’dinations Fancy Pants Designs”Refreshed” Collection, which delivers that comforting chocolate embossed in a variety of designs as well as your pick of pretty pastels that are also pre-embossed. This makes for great papercrafted projects in a variety of themes.

I sanded all the layers and die-cuts and added distress ink to the edges. The sentiment was stamped using watermark ink and then heat embossed with embossing powder.  Just a little bit of embellishment and this card was done.

And nothing finishes up better than a layout, don’t you agree?
VivianKehCoredinationsLayout_A
I chose several bold colors from Core’dinations Darks Collection, which have great grounding colors that are perfect for masculine projects.  As you can see in the detail shot, there is so much easy interest one can create with Core – die-cut it, paper-punch it, sand it, tear it, emboss it, crimp it, distress it, stamp it.  All of these were used in this layout. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination!
VivianKehCoredinationsLayout_BThe story of how my husband and I met is really special.  And both of us still can’t believe how serendipitous our meeting truly was.  Hence, the “when pigs fly” stamping on my background, using the great kraft side of our Tim Holtz Kraft Core Cardstock with a simple black ink. His smile, and humorous personality brought levity to the rather challenging moment in our lives captured here on film. I simply layered a bunch of Core elements on top of a piece of old book paper, topping off with a little bling and some scrunched up mulberry paper that I had misted.

Core’dinations – Darks Collection, Tim Holtz Kraft Core, Venetian Lace (Cream Color), Sand-It Gadget, Dust Buddy

Gettin’ Krafty with Kate & Clare!

Today we have a super “krafty” layout from designer Kate Nolan-Denham.

I am having a great love of all things Kraft lately and I find myself reaching for the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core all the time . The sweet layout of my grandson I am sharing today is chock-full of this line!

I sanded the background cardstock, Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No.10, using my Sand it Gadget to give it a bit of an aged look.  To create the rulered mat, I embossed a piece of Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No.6, with Darice 12″ ruler embossing folders. After fussy cutting out each ruler, I inked them with Distress Ink and added them to a 9″x 8″ mat of Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No. 23.

The title work is die cut from Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No.21 and distressed a bit with the Sandit Gadget.  Of course, I always use the Dust Buddy everytime I sand.  The photo mat and die punched hearts are made from scraps of Core’dinations papers I had in my stash.  Got to love stash!

Fabulous Friday

…..with Vivian Keh!

In order to create the luxurious feeling in this card project, I turned to the beautiful pearlescent hues of our Gemstones collection.  While the sheen on the die-cut rosebuds showcases the elegance of the Gemstones cardstock as is, I dry embossed a bit of Sapphire colored cardstock, sanded  and distressed the raised surfaces with Distress Ink to infuse my card with a sense of nostalgia.

Ah…you can never have too many close-ups, right? Here is a shot of the inking on the embossed Gemstones cardstock.

Gemstones does NOT have a sandable finish like our Specialty collections so when you sand, you will lose the sheen. This is a GREAT alternative…sand it so you loose the smooth finish and your ink will be more intense.

Happy Dad’s Day Card

Looking for a really fun and handsome Father’s Day Card? The great thing about Core is that you can add ANY kind of texture to the cardstock with different embossing folders. Plaid, polka dots…sky is the limit! The different textures really make this card because they remind of the patterns of the shirt and tie, don’t you agree?
Keep on reading to see how Mary Pat Siehl created this awesome card….
Here is a little bit about this card from Mary Pat:
I cut the base of the card using my Silhouette. Then I used Core’dinations Tim Holtz and Ranger Distress Collections and cut it out to match the base of my card.  The I ran the Faded Jeans cardstock in my embossing folder and lightly sanded to show the pattern.  I cut my tie using the Scattered Straw cardstock then ran it  through another embossing folder and lightly sanded that.  Finally I stamped my sentiment and lightly inked the edges with the Tim Holtz faded Jeans distress ink.  Don’t you just love how this awesome Tim Holtz collection  matches the inks?  I know I do!

Introducing…Ava Gavloski

Hello day THREE and say Hello to Ava!
Here is a little bit about Ava:

Hello, I am from the Great Lakes of Ontario Canada.  Scrapbooking started out for me a few years ago, lots of classes from great instructors and here I am looking at mixed media as my new challenge for 2013.  As for my scrapping style… well, that is ….TBA.  I create using products that feel good to me.    I am inspired by talented designers and experiment with new techniques, so spikes of different styles will be noted above the radar!

I tend to scrap in 3 styles : Eclectic/Freestyle,  Romantic/Shabby Chic and Multimedia.

And to see more of her work check out her blog HERE!

Here is a little bit about this layout from Ava:  Costa: Ocean Waters calm my Soul
Have  you tried this technique water misting yet?  Let me share my layout with you that features water misting and hot glue application.
The lace border trim around the photo was created using the Martha Stewart punch, by misting the border punched trim with a water mister.   Once the water has soaked in like 1 minute, fold like a fan the strip of paper and shape to the desired shape and let the border rest (dry) somewhat and like magic, you have a full textured element for your page.  I misted my flower as well to get the curled look to the petals.
Now, you can see how much fun embossing Core essential papers are from this layout, which I made exclusively with Core’dinations cardstock.   All my embellishments are made from Core’dinations cardstock as well. The vine, tags, border circle trim, medallions and flower….all CORE!
Now let’s check out the glossy water ripples on this layout.  Fellow Core team designer Vivian Keh, is known as is an educator of this technique.  I am one of her followers and thought I had better give this a try on this layout.  You can get lots of technique videos from Vivian at her blog.  Using the hot glue on this layout is fast and very effective for a water scene to get the ripple effect.  Be sure to get some practice before you make an attempt on a final art project because your paper may ripple a bit from the hot glue. So, this is a layout about me;  water’s edge has a magical calming effect on my inner self.
Check out these details!
How about those Core Tags?

Guest Designer Leeann Pearce!

Monday Monday!

Hope you had a GREAT weekend! We are back to our regularly scheduled blog posts. Between Holidays, flu, getting ready for CHA, Hard Core Crop prizes and more…we are busy busy!

Today we have Guest Designer Leeann Pearce with us again! Leeann is the queen of cool. Her layouts are always so awesome with layers and layers of texture and this color combo is just a classic.  The gray tones that Leeann pairs together are just perfect and it’s so easy with Core’dinations Cardstock since everything “core’dinates”!

Here is a little bit about this layout from the lovely Leeann herself:

Hello and Happy New Year Core fan… Today I am sharing a quick page. I am a lover of solid colours and shapes. I created a chevron background by cutting 3” x 3” squares into triangles. I wanted to add just small pops of colour as you can see. I did add some texture to the bright yellow triangle using my embossing folder and Sizzix Big Shotz machine. I used a Core tag and have this hiding in small paper bag.
Materials Used: Cardstock Neutrals, Tim Holtz  Ranger Distress collection, pack all white  Core tags, Crate paper border stickers, a flair for buttons, Epiphany crafts round 14 tool and bubble cap, Amy Tangerine rosette, Heidi Swapp buzz words, twine.
