Step 2.  Cut your circles out and then cut paper strips to fit around the edge of the lid as well as the bottom of the container.
Step 3.  Then  emboss and sand the section that went around the container.  After I sanded it with my Sand It Gadget I dusted it off with my Dust Buddy.

Step 4. Use Helmar’s craft blue to adhere all the pieces to my container and add some lace trim around the top of the box using a sookwang to add adhesive.
Picture or Video 6217
Step 5.  Next  add some bling pieces to the lid.

Step 6. Then using some rose die cuts from Spellbinders I cut out several flowers for the lid.  After embossing them I lightly sanded them (be careful they are delicate!).   I curled them and sprayed this with Mr. Huey’s mists.

Core Tip:  Since our cardstock is such a great weight, just use a pencil or paintbrush to curl the flowers. They will hold up to getting sprayed and stay curled!

I loved this sketch over at Page Drafts and knew exactly what picture I wanted to use with it.  Love how the Tim Holtz Shattered collection gives you such great background even if you don’t do anything to it – it already has a great look.  Love that I can do a layout and never touch any patterned paper.

Now, inspiration please??? I mean what else is inspiring you right now besides snow?

Happy Snow Day Core Fans!  Kate here, sharing a simple snow layout with you using lots of Core’dinations Spotted Tillie Dot.
I did lots of sanding with the Sand It Gadget in this layout to make it pop.

I cut the snowflakes out of Core’dinations Snowflake using my Silhoutte, painted the die cut with some glue and added some fine glitter.

Core’dinations Supplies:

12 x 12 Spotted Tillie Dot

12 x 12 Core Essentials Neutrals

Sand It Set

Other Supplies:

Fiskars Crimper

American Crafts Thickers

Silhoutte “Snowflake Lace” cut

Helmar & Xyron Adhesives

And next up two layouts from Debbie Standard:

I have always loved the Jenni Bowlin collection. The reds, blacks and browns are always so striking. And there are so many wonderful collections in Core’dination’s products that it’s easy to mix and match to get just the look you want. For this I started with some Jenni Bowlin with the dots, added a piece of the JB with the words on it. Then I used some of the Tim Holtz Distress 2 X 12 pieces and embossed and sanded them. I added a few other color scraps and then sanded and cut around the My Mind’s Eye Core mini label. Then I punched out some snowflakes with a Martha Stewart punch, attached them and then added the Queen & Co and the Kaser Goosebumps. The kids having so much are my grandkids, who had an unexpected snow day and a great family play day.

Cuttle Bug Folder, Darice Folder

Tim Holtz is always a winner in my book. For this page I used papers from his Shattered collection. I started with the red sheet and left it as is. Then I took a sheet of black and embossed it with a snow flake embossing folder and sanded it. Then I choose a piece of the yellow and embossed it with a folder of winter sayings. Then I added the strips of grey and white. I used my Silhouette to make the snowflakes out of the Glitter Silk White paper and added some of the Queen & Co. Pom poms. I used some random My Mind’s Eye buttons as well. This is my little great-nephew, Cason, who is finally old enough to get out and enjoy the snow.

More Thanksgiving Projects AND a Video!

Today we have more inspiration for you during this amazing time of year. Looking for a beautiful frame for your mantel or your wall?  This would also make a really fabulous gift for the host of your Thanksgiving Day celebration. You can get inexpensive frames at your local craft store or maybe you have an old one your stash and have been waiting to be inspired. Now is the time! You can’t get this kind of the at Pier 1 Imports now can you?

Here is a little bit about these projects from Mary Pat Siehl from Siehled with a Kiss:

I love to decorate my house for fall and Thanksgiving.  My mantle was missing something this year so I decided to make asome fall/Thanksgiving framed art.  I started with some yummy Shattered Core’dinations from Tim Holtz.  To me these colors just scream fall with the beautiful hues.  Then I  used my Silhouette to cut out my design (item #46560 and #13696).  After framing it using an old 8×10 frame that I had on hand, I placed it on my mantel with my other home decor.  I made a video for you to see how it came together so scroll down!

Supplies:
Core Essentials
Core’dinations Tim Holtz Shattered Cardstock
Tattered Angels mist
Silhouette images #46560 and #13696 (Falling back into school and thankful)

And we aren’t done yet! How about a super cute Turkey Card from Mary Pat?  I don’t care how old you are…turkeys are too cute and never get old when it comes to Thanksgiving. I can’t imagine this card not sanded..it is the perfect  touch to any project!

I love making shaped cards because they are just so much fun and just so adorable.  For my project I created a shaped card using my Silhouette ( item # 34152) and I used all Core Essential pieces.  Once I cut out and sanded each layer around the edges to give it a distressed look, I just adhered it!   I think it turned out so cute!
