Hot Chocolate Layout by Mary Pat
Mary Pat here with you today and winter is just around the corner. We already had our first light snow! Core’dinations Cardstock is just perfect for all your winter themed projects. Today I have a winter layout that I made using many different types of the Core’dinations Cardstock!
Hot Chocolate Layout Supplies:
- Core’dinaions Cardstock (Vintage Collection, Gemstone Collection, Whitewash Collection )
- Imaginisce pattern paper
- Some Odd Girl clear stamps
- Silhouette images
- Martha Stewart (scoring board and circle cutter)
- Hero Arts ink
- Sand it Gadget
- Dust Buddy
I love to layer my cardstock and I layered my Gemstone Cardstock on top of Vintage Colleges. I then cut out using my Silhouette some snowflakes using more of the Gemstone.
I made a video on how I made this layout along with demonstrating three very fun techniques using Core (scoring, corrugating, and sanding).
Thanks so much for joining me today. Have a wonderful and crafty day!
Joy to the World Layout by Suzanna Lee
That time of the year where red and green dominates and all things holly and jolly is fast approaching! I have just finished a plethora of last years Christmas layouts using the traditional colors and I’m ready for something different! Today I’m sharing with you a Christmas layout that doesn’t scream Christmas but is still “of the genre” so to speak.
Joy to the World Layout Supplies:
- Tim Holtz Adirondack Meadow, GX-1910-41
- Kraft Core Shattered Collection
- Core’dinations Gemstones
- Kraft Core, Nostalgic collection
- Core’dinations Vellum
- Dust Buddy
- Embossing Folders; Sizzix/Tim Holtz, Couture Creations, Design Objectives
- Big Kick
- Die – Dienamics
Still have the green, still have the stars that are often associated with Christmas, even the boughs. Just omit the red, replace it with blue and a little shimmery metallic and you have a non-traditional Christmas layout.
Banners of combined embossing and debossing with parts of words fussy cut to create the title are dead simple with Core’dinations cardstock! Run the cardstock through your die cut machine and trim away with your scissors. Sand it a tad with the Sand -It-Gadget and don’t forget to clean up with the Dust Buddy or you will be remembering that project all Christmas season long!
Core’dinations vellum is perfect for the holidays! Here I used a sub-title stamped on Core’dinations vellum for a little contrast and visual pop.
More fussy cutting of embossing items. That top, right space needed a little something and these stars were the perfect complimentary filler.

Mary Pat here with you today and I was really excited to find out that Core’dinations was teaming up with May Arts! What a great combo! I always like to bring a little hostess gift when visiting friends and family during the holidays. Just a little something to say “Thanks”. So I made a little gift bag and tag using the yummy Core’dinations and the beautiful May Arts Ribbon.
A close up of the Tag.
For my project I used the Tim Holtz Shattered Collection to make all my pieces and layers. This collection to me has such rich colors that just scream fall to me. I used my Silhouette to create the fall leaves and then I added some stamped images to add some fun embellishments. Finally to add the finishing touch I added the beautiful May Arts ribbon and cord.
Fall Gift Bag & Tag Supplies:
- Tim Holtz Shattered Cardstock
- Sand it Set
- May Arts Suede Ribbon
- Lawn Fawn Stamps
- Copic Markers
- Paper Gift Bag
Here is a video to help you create this gift bag and tag:
Mary Pat Siehl here with you today and I have a really fun and easy 4th of July layout for you using a variety of our Tim Holtz cardstocks.
1. Start with the Tim Holtz Seasonal Impressions and lightly sand it to expose the awesome subway art.
2. Matt photo (s) with coordinating cardstock and or pattern paper. I used TH Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection and Graphic 45 pattern paper.
3. Die cut some embellishments ( I used stars for the theme of July 4th).
4. If you want a more textured look, you can emboss them. I used and embossing folder from Cuttlebug.
5. Sand the embellishments to expose the yummy core.
6. Add a title and you are done. I used my Silhouette to create the title.

I have a quick video for you today on how this layout came together and how I sanded the Core.
Today we have more inspiration for you during this amazing time of year. Looking for a beautiful frame for your mantel or your wall? This would also make a really fabulous gift for the host of your Thanksgiving Day celebration. You can get inexpensive frames at your local craft store or maybe you have an old one your stash and have been waiting to be inspired. Now is the time! You can’t get this kind of the at Pier 1 Imports now can you?
Here is a little bit about these projects from Mary Pat Siehl from Siehled with a Kiss:
I love to decorate my house for fall and Thanksgiving. My mantle was missing something this year so I decided to make asome fall/Thanksgiving framed art. I started with some yummy Shattered Core’dinations from Tim Holtz. To me these colors just scream fall with the beautiful hues. Then I used my Silhouette to cut out my design (item #46560 and #13696). After framing it using an old 8×10 frame that I had on hand, I placed it on my mantel with my other home decor. I made a video for you to see how it came together so scroll down!
And a close up:
And check out how to create this wonderful piece with Mary Pat in her video below:
And we aren’t done yet! How about a super cute Turkey Card from Mary Pat? I don’t care how old you are…turkeys are too cute and never get old when it comes to Thanksgiving. I can’t imagine this card not sanded..it is the perfect touch to any project!
I love making shaped cards because they are just so much fun and just so adorable. For my project I created a shaped card using my Silhouette ( item # 34152) and I used all Core Essential pieces. Once I cut out and sanded each layer around the edges to give it a distressed look, I just adhered it! I think it turned out so cute!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
We have a HUGE giveaway for you! How exciting is this?
All you need to do is LIKE both Core’dinations and Couture Creations on Facebook (giving our friends over there shout out would be nice, too 😉 and then click HERE to enter to win! That’s it! We are giving away FOUR prizes of $50 FULL of products from both companies. You don’t want to miss this!
And who’s ready for some projects from Design Team Member Kim Moreno??? I don’t think there is one project on here where Kim doesn’t work her ScorPal. Scoring is a GREAT and EASY way to add accents to projects. From creating a unique frame around your projects to adding journal lines and even making your own patterns….you name it! You can do it with Core’dinations!!
LOVE the outlining technique for the title!
And a few cards…Kim can really work her card magic. All you need is some Core and a few accents and, “Voila!” You have some gorgeous cards for any occasion.
I know we shared this card on Facebook already but with the upcoming Holiday, I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see it. Repeating the same shape in different colors and lines of Core’dinations looks amazing! AND it’s quick and easy. You just grab some scraps, run them through your embossing machine…adhere…and that’s it!
I used the ScorPal to create the border around the edge of my card and sanded it slightly to reveal the kraft core of the paper. I then ran the papers through my Cuttlebug to emboss the leaves… sanded each of them and cut them out. I used the 250 to adhere the leaves down and then used the glue dots to keep the sentiment block down- I wanted it to be a bit more tacky since it was going over the twine.
Core’dinations: Tim Holtz Kraft Core, Tim Holtz Shattered, Vintage Collection
Embossing: Cuttelbug folder and machine
Adhesive: Xyron High Tack Adhesive Dots, 250 machine, Mega Runner
Stamp: Lawn Fawn
And another cute card…I just love these little square cards! Scoring is the perfect accent, too. Here is how she did it:
I used my scor pal to make the lines around the edge of the card. I then ran the pink paper through my cuttlebug and sanded the sentiment slightly to reveal the colored core of the pink paper. I then backed it in patterned paper twice and adhered to the center of card and added jewels and felt embellishment to finish.
Jewels: Queen & Co.
Embosing folder and machine: Cuttlebug
