Valentine Tussy Mussy

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time of the year to create nostalgic projects to give to your loved ones. Tussy Mussies became popular during the Victorian period, but I’ve updated this idea, using the new, trendy Kraft Polka Dot Pops paper.

Step 1.  Cut a half circle to form the cone.  Mark the center on the backside, to assist in forming the cone.

004

Step 2.  Use Scor-tape to attach the sides.

005

Step 3.  Punch a hole on each side of the cone and use to add a ribbon holder.

Step 4.  Take about 4 yards of crepe paper, sew through the center to pleat, and add to the cone with Scor-tape.

Step 5.  Embellish the crepe ruffle with satin ribbon.

Step 6.  Emboss the Valentine heart with the folder.  Sand the raised edges.

007

Step 7.  Cut the heart out and attach to the cone.

Step 8.  Fill with tulle and other goodies of your choice.

This is an easy project to put together, and one that can be changed for any season or holiday.  Thanks for stopping by!

I love Valentine’s Day. It is such a fun reminder of all those around us that we love and that love us! Not only do I enjoy making Valentines to give to others, but I enjoy decorating my home for the holiday as well. Today, I’m sharing this simple and fun “LOVE” Valentine Banner with you.

LOVE Valentine Banner Supplies:

Step 1. Using the paper trimmer, cut your Silver Pop Dot Paper into 3, 4″ x 12″ strips. Using one strip, place the larger Nesting Book Page die on your paper, and follow instructions for your die cutting machine to cut it out. Cut out 6 of these.

Step 2. Cut a 1 1/2″ x 12″ strip of Amethyst Gemstone paper with your paper trimmer. Use the die cutting machine to cut out 5 of the smaller Nesting Book Page die.

Step 3. Use your hole punch to punch holes in the corners of the cut out banner pieces.

Step 5. With the Electronic Die Cutting Machine, cut out the hearts and LOVE letters.

Step 6. Place dimension squares on the back of the hearts and letters.

Step 7. Mount letters and hearts on the banner pieces.

Step 8. Use the baker’s twine to tie the banner pieces together. I used two strands. Alternate the larger silver letter pieces with the purple pieces in between, tying each one. Also, tie twine onto the ends, leaving twine to hang the banner with.

Step 9. Tie some additional ribbon onto the twine for embellishment.

Now you are ready to hang your cute and fun new Valentine banner up in your home. The shimmer on the Gemstone cardstock adds just the perfect amount of bling.

The ribbon adds a fun touch as well.

I love the way the Gemstone cardstock looks on the top of the silver Pop Dot Paper.

I’m sure you can find the perfect place to display it in your home too.

Today we have some inspiration for Valentine’s Day for you from Ava Gavloski. I hope you love red, pink and black because you came to the right place!

Hello Ava here …Happy Valentines Day!  The heart is wonderful place for all things kind and good.
Here is a card that I designed showcasing Core’dinations Vintage collection and Scarlett from the Darks collection.
You can see that embossing and sanding the Scarlett red cardstock matches the Vintage cardstock well.  That is one nice feature of Core’dinations cardstock, so many of the collections co-ordinate with each other to design a wonderful presentation.
Add some embellishments like Darice washi tape, rhinestones, pins and ribbon and your have a luscious full bodied presentation of a vintage valentine card.  Visit your nearest LSS and pick up some Core’dinations Cardstock for that special card.

I would like to share a Wedding Layout with you to celebrate February the month of Sweetheart Valentines.

I choose the Core Amour Whitewash cardstock to showcase how quickly pre-embossed collections from Core’dinations can have a layout completed with a great textured presentation.

This close up showcases the sanding to reveal a light pink inner core that works so well with the Vintage black lae pattern of this cardstock. I have punched out some mini hearts from the Gemstones collection and embossed the hearts for some texture to show the shine of the Gemstone collection.
To complement the pattern of the cardstock, I die cut some flourish’s from Sizzix and embossed the flourish to give the gemstone cardstock some texture.
The layout is embellished with some doilies, tulle and sequins.

Gina K Stamps has a cute set of stamps which celebrates Valentine’s Day and I thought this  vintage phone complements the vintage feel of the Core’dinations Vintage collection.

I stamped the image using WOW embossing powder to gloss up the image to support the quality of the vintage Core’dinations cardstock.  The pre-embossed vintage Core’dinations cardstock makes this card full with dimension after sanding to reveal the inner colored core.

I also embossed, sanded and border punched some strips of black cardstock from the Neutral collection to reveal the inner grey core of this cardstock to make faux washi tape.  Think of the unlimited possibilities of creating faux washi tape just by sanding your Core’dinations Cardstock strips.
Embellish your card with rhinestones, sequences and Mary Arts Ribbon.

Since we have been exploring colors this month, I thought this would be a perfect time to share this adorable “be” Mine Card from Sarah. She reminds us that we don’t always have to follow a particular color scheme for certain holidays. Not to mention, Sarah combines some Black Magic Cardstock {from the Jenni Bowlin Core Impression Line} and Whitewash collection.

It is hard to believe that next week is February! The Design Team has been busy creating wonderful Valentine’s Day inspirational projects.

Linda created this card using the color inspiration challenge we posted here. This was just a fun thing we did to see what we could come up with when working with simple color combinations. That is the great thing about working the Core’dinations Cardstock…so many options!

And Cari mixed some Core Essentials and Black Magic cardstock for this little cutie:
